Lab Manager / Research Associate

Location: Boston, MA

Pay: $39.00 per hour

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM

Work Setting: Full-time, fully on-site

Position Overview

We are seeking a Lab Manager / Research Associate to support an Analytical Development (AD) team in a fast-paced laboratory environment. This position combines laboratory operations and management responsibilities with hands-on biological assay work supporting biologics-related Analytical Development activities.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working collaboratively while managing laboratory safety, inventory, workflow requests, and routine assay execution.

Key Responsibilities

Laboratory Management

  • Ensure the Analytical Development team follows laboratory safety requirements and appropriate waste-disposal procedures.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact with Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S) on behalf of the Analytical Development team.

  • Oversee laboratory inventory, including purchasing, receiving, storing, and allocating laboratory equipment, supplies, reagents, and consumables.

  • Develop and manage a laboratory request intake and triage system using tools such as Microsoft Teams or Smartsheet .

  • Collect and organize non-urgent laboratory requests and coordinate prioritization with laboratory managers and key stakeholders.

  • Track requests through completion and help improve workflow efficiency while reducing unnecessary interruptions to laboratory operations.

  • Support the routine organization and management of laboratory materials and resources.

Research Associate / Analytical Development

  • Execute functional potency bioassays supporting Analytical Development activities.

  • Perform potency testing using ELISA, plate-based assay platforms, and flow cytometry as needed.

  • Support biologics-related Analytical Development workstreams through routine assay execution and data collection.

  • Assist with assay troubleshooting, optimization, and performance trending under the guidance of laboratory management.

  • Maintain assay raw-data trackers and perform basic data analysis.

  • Maintain clear, accurate, and complete documentation in electronic laboratory notebooks (ELNs) and test forms.

  • Support routine management of assay reagents, consumables, and laboratory materials.

  • Operate a variety of laboratory equipment and maintain organized, accurate records of laboratory activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Cell & Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related scientific discipline.

  • At least 2 years of relevant industry or regulated-laboratory experience preferred .

  • Candidates with a Master’s degree and 0–2+ years of industry experience may also be considered.

  • Experience in the cell and gene therapy space is preferred.

  • Experience with sample management and ELN/LIMS systems is preferred.

Required Skills & Knowledge

  • Experience with laboratory equipment such as:

  • Multichannel pipettes

  • Centrifuges

  • Microscopes

  • Plate readers

  • Plate washers

  • Flow cytometers

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word .

  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively within a team environment.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to laboratory safety and accurate documentation.

Schedule & Work Environment

  • Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM

  • Fully on-site laboratory position

  • No alternate shift currently available

  • Training will be provided as needed based on the candidate's experience and role requirements.

Compensation

$39.00 per hour

Pay Details: $39.00 per hour
