Job Description

About the Role We are looking for hands-on Data Center Technicians to support the deployment of next-generation 400G network infrastructure inside Microsoft data centers. You’ll play a key role in building out critical network gateways that power large-scale cloud services. This is a high-impact, fast-paced project where you’ll be working directly with cutting-edge equipment alongside experienced engineers and project teams.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Receive, inspect, and stage network hardware (chassis, line cards, optics, etc.)
  • Install and rack large-scale network devices (Cisco/Arista platforms)
  • Run, route, label, and secure fiber and copper cabling to strict standards
  • Clean and inspect all fiber connections using optical tools
  • Perform troubleshooting and link validation to ensure connectivity is fully operational
  • Replace or reseat optics, cables, or components as needed
  • Follow network diagrams and confirm all cabling aligns with design
  • Support pre-cabling efforts before install phases begin
  • Operate lifts or scaffolding to complete installs at height
  • Maintain clean work areas (unboxing, staging, disposal, etc.)
  • Provide daily progress updates to project leadership
  • Adhere to all safety, security, and ESD requirements

What to Expect

  • Work onsite in a Microsoft data center environment
  • Structured deployment schedule across staging, install, cabling, and validation phases
  • Hands-on, team-based work with 3–4 technicians per install crew

Skills and Requirements

Must Haves

  • 2+ years of experience (data center, network deployment, or hardware installation experience ideal)

  • Hands-on experience with:

  • Rack & stack / hardware installs

  • Fiber optic cabling (LC, MPO, etc.)

  • Experience with fiber cleaning and inspection tools

  • Ability to read and follow basic network diagrams or cabling plans

  • Comfortable lifting and installing large equipment with a team

  • Ability to troubleshoot connectivity issues and replace faulty components

  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including extended shifts and weekends

  • Strong focus on safety and attention to detail Plusses

  • Experience in hyperscale or cloud data centers (Microsoft, AWS, etc.)

  • Familiarity with high-speed networking (100G/400G environments)

  • Experience with Cisco 8000 or Arista 7800 series switches

  • Background in large-scale network deployments or migrations

  • Experience with optical testing tools like VeEX or similar

  • Prior involvement in network turn-up or commissioning activities
