Your Opportunity
Stantec Government Services (GS) is seeking an Environmental Project Manager to both lead and participate in environmental compliance projects for government and commercial clients. The successful candidate will be able to manage interdisciplinary personnel to conduct environmental compliance projects, support a variety of environmental compliance project pursuits, and will possess the technical background and communication skills necessary to develop and review project deliverables. This position requires a consistent in-office presence to promote employee engagement, strengthen client relationships, and support successful business operations and project delivery.
Your Key Responsibilities

Carry out project management for environmental compliance projects, including developing project budgets, maintaining good client relations, managing project personnel including subcontractors, and respecting budgets and deadlines as agreed in our service offers.

Participate in the overall development of environmental compliance services by identifying business opportunities and potential clients.

Provide environmental compliance consulting services (e.g., development of SPCC Plans and Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans, initial and renewal of permit applications, corrective action support) to both government and commercial clients.

Work with an interdisciplinary environmental compliance team to provide audit services across the U.S.

Serve as an environmental auditor to evaluate diverse facility types for compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory standards.

Assist with the development of findings, recommendations, and corrective actions to mitigate environmental hazards across various environmental media, including but not limited to, air emissions, potable water, water pollution control, hazardous materials management, solid and hazardous waste management, and toxic substances control.

Perform Quality Assurance/Quality Control for project deliverables such as audit findings, monthly/quarterly progress reports, and environmental management plans.

Collaborate internally with professionals from other business units to provide environmental compliance services.

Must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of Stantec GS’ Charlottesville, Virginia office, or be willing to relocate to the Charlottesville area, and maintain a regular in-office presence to support collaboration with employees, clients, and business operations.
Your Capabilities and Credentials

Knowledge of environmental regulatory standards and programs

Strong written and verbal communication skills with clients, team members, and subcontractors

Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to successfully pass a pre-employment background check, as well as a pre-employment physical and drug screen

Ability and willingness to travel at least 25% of the time
Education and Experience
-
Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Environmental Science or Environmental Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, Geology, or related field

At least 5 years of experience with performing environmental compliance audits and inspections, supporting compliance with applicable Federal, state, and local regulatory standards, and managing environmental compliance projects

Certified Professional Environmental Auditor (CPEA), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), Project Management Professional (PMP), ISO 14001 Lead Auditor Training, or other environmental management certification highly desired

Pay Range:
- Locations in MN, OH, VT, & Various CA, ME, NY, VA Areas-$75,200.00 - $109,000.00 Annually
Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
Benefits Summary: Regular full-time and part-time employees (working at least 20 hours per week) have access to medical, dental, and vision plans, a wellness program, health saving accounts, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, employee stock purchase program, life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, short-term/long-term disability plans, emergency travel benefits, tuition reimbursement, professional membership fee coverage and paid family leave. Regular full-time and part-time employees will receive ten paid holidays in each calendar year. In addition, employees will be eligible to accrue vacation between 10 and 20 days per year and eligible for paid sick leave (and if more generous, in accordance with state and local law).
Temporary/casual employees have access to 401(k) plans, employee stock purchase program, and paid leave, in accordance with state and local law.
