Responsibilities
The KPMO Space Systems Engineer provides advanced engineering support across all phases of the system lifecycle to ensure the delivery of timely and accurate Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT). This role applies to a multi-disciplinary approach to the development, integration, and sustainment of space-based capabilities within Controlled Access Programs (CAPs) and Special Access Programs (SAPs) across the National System for Geospatial Intelligence (NSG) and the Department of Defense/Intelligence Community (DoD/IC).
The engineer will engage in activities including requirements engineering, solutions development, systems reliability and resiliency, services deployment, research and development (R&D), systems integration, test and evaluation (T&E), and maintainability analysis. A deep understanding of secure architectures and the ability to operate effectively within highly classified environments is essential.

Must provide proof of Organizational Conflict of Interest (OCI) status for participation in KPMO programs
Location: This position is 100% onsite in Springfield, Virginia. Remote or hybrid work is not available.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
-
STEM Master’s and 18 years of experience, or STEM PhD and 10 years of experience in related technical or scientific fields such as engineering, physics, mathematics

Experience with Integrated Protection Strategy (IPS) or integrating SSA applications
-
Experience with space threat assessment technology
-
Experience dealing with data at multiple classification levels and integrating these concepts
-
Experience with space information needs
-
Experience with the space environment enterprise including orbital, ground, communications, and protections that can be applied to these factors
-
Experience with physics models and their use in the space environment
-
Experience with space object measurement and identification
-
Experience supporting offices such as NRO/SAO or AF SPO
-
Experience with MBSE processes and tools

TS/SCI clearance adjudication or ability to obtain SCI and pass a polygraph

Target Salary Range $146,000 - $234,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
