Job Title: Human Resources Coordinator

Job Description

The Human Resources Coordinator supports both administrative operations and core HR functions within a fast-paced, mission-driven nonprofit environment. This role focuses on ensuring smooth day-to-day office operations, coordinating administrative tasks, and providing comprehensive support to the HR team. The position also assists with recruiting and onboarding activities, serving as a key resource for scheduling, documentation, and candidate communication. It is well-suited for a highly organized professional with strong customer service skills, administrative experience, and a friendly, outgoing personality who enjoys working in a collaborative and purpose-driven setting.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary administrative support resource for the HR department and office operations.

  • Coordinate scheduling, meetings, and calendars for HR-related activities and departmental initiatives.

  • Assist with recruitment activities, including interview scheduling, candidate communication, and onboarding coordination as needed.

  • Support experience check processing and ensure completion of onboarding documentation.

  • Maintain accurate employee and candidate records within UKG, the applicant tracking system (ATS), and other internal HR systems.

  • Assist with vendor coordination, invoice processing, and general office administration tasks.

  • Provide excellent customer service to employees, candidates, visitors, and external partners.

  • Help maintain organized files, records, and administrative workflows to support efficient HR operations.

  • Support recruiting and talent acquisition efforts during periods of increased hiring activity.

  • Collaborate with HR leadership and team members to support departmental goals, projects, and initiatives.

Essential Skills

  • Previous experience in administrative, office support, receptionist, customer service, or coordinator roles.

  • Demonstrated experience supporting office operations and administrative processes.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive working relationships with employees, candidates, and external partners.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel.

  • Strong computer literacy and accurate data entry skills.

  • Professional demeanor with a positive, friendly, and approachable personality.

  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.

  • Experience providing HR support, including HR administration, onboarding assistance, and talent acquisition coordination.

  • Ability to work effectively with HR systems, including applicant tracking systems and UKG.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with recruiting coordination, including interview scheduling and candidate communication.

  • Familiarity with applicant tracking systems (ATS) and ATS management.

  • Experience in human resources, HR support, or HR administration within an office environment.

  • Experience with talent acquisition processes and recruiting activities.

  • Comfort working in a mission-driven nonprofit organization that serves individuals with disabilities.

  • Ability to collaborate closely with HR leadership and team members to advance departmental initiatives.

  • Strong customer service orientation and commitment to providing a welcoming experience for employees, candidates, and visitors.

Work Environment

This position is fully onsite in Cromwell, CT and follows a Monday through Friday schedule with an eight-hour workday. Start times are flexible between 8:00 AM and 9:00 AM, offering some scheduling flexibility within standard business hours. The role supports a growing organization that operates multiple schools and programs serving children and adults with disabilities, creating a mission-driven, service-oriented work environment. The setting is office-based, with regular use of computers, HR systems such as UKG and an applicant tracking system, and standard office equipment. The environment is collaborative, professional, and focused on supporting staff and programs that make a meaningful impact in the community.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Cromwell, CT.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $28.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
