Duties Description St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center - Children and Youth (SLPC CY) is recruiting for Social Work Assistant 2 to provide case management and service coordination activities for individuals with mental illness. Candidates from outside or within State Service can apply.As a Social Work Assistant 2, you will manage a caseload for individuals with more complicated behavioral disorders including: • Interviewing individuals and their families to gather background information• Preparing case histories and determining eligibility for services• Advocating and assisting individuals in identifying and obtaining services• Supervising Social Work Assistant 1 and direct care staff

Minimum Qualifications Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement – Statewide (NY HELPS) program if they have a bachelor’s degree in a human service field and 2 years of social work experience.Substitution: Master’s degree in social work can substitute for 1 year of specialized experience.ORCandidates within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they are reachable on the current Social Work Assistant 3 eligible list.ORCandidates from within State Service can be considered transfer to a competitive class position if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
