Safety Coordinator Responsibilities

Implement, and maintain dealership safety policies and procedures.

Conduct regular safety inspections of the dealerships, service shop, body shop, parts warehouse, and surrounding property.

Identify workplace hazards and recommend corrective actions.

Investigate workplace accidents, injuries, near misses, and property damage incidents.

Complete incident reports and maintain accurate safety records.

Coordinate OSHA compliance activities and maintain required documentation.

Monitor compliance with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements.

Ensure employees follow safe work practices when operating lifts, cranes, forklifts, hoists, welding equipment, and other shop machinery.

Coordinate fire extinguisher inspections, eyewash stations, spill kits, first aid supplies, and emergency equipment.

Assist with emergency preparedness planning, evacuation procedures, and severe weather response.

Monitor hazardous material storage, chemical labeling, and Safety Data Sheet (SDS) compliance.

Work with department managers to correct unsafe conditions promptly.

Maintain compliance with DOT and commercial vehicle safety regulations as applicable.

Coordinate third-party safety audits and regulatory inspections.

Promote employee engagement through safety recognition programs and continuous improvement initiatives.

Other duties as assigned.

Safety Coordinator Requirements

Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and workplace safety standards.

Experience conducting investigations and safety audits.

50% travel

Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively with all departments.

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
