Job Description

This position requires subject matter knowledge and breadth/depth experience to oversee projects from campus planning to completion of construction including capabilities of due diligence reviews, test fits, Risk identification, permitting, utility design and overall product materials and drawing presentation. Project work and responsibilities will include representing the program directives and reviewing A/E reports and designs from Due Diligence to IFC, including new and retrofit designs. The Engineer will review the due diligence reports, concept packages, and civil designs and provide comments based on review of the submissions and direct the consultant to meet the project goals and design standards. Work within the program to provide performance requirements. The Candidate will help identify items that do not meet program requirements and review alternatives to bring the design into alignment with the programs' objectives.

Job Responsibilities: Provide Civil Engineering expertise for design-related activities in connection with data center sites or projects. Serve as Owner’s consultant, advisor, and authorized representative through all phases of the Projects. Utilize Due Diligence Reports and available mapping to create conceptual test fits from reference designs blocks. Maintain Test Fit Libraries and govern issuance of test blocks to program developer partners. Work with the Owner’s stakeholder groups, related consultants and the design consultant(s), construction management firm(s), and construction contractor(s) to oversee the design and/or construction contract(s), Provide engineering guidance and review of engineering works associated with due diligence, site layout and building design. Help develop civil engineering guidelines and direction for design standards. Review submitted designs and provide comments on Test Fits, Basis of Designs, 30%, 65% and 100% design issues.

Skills and Requirements

Bachelor's in Engineering 10+ years in site development or civil engineering Ability to work independently for long stretches with little oversight Comfortable operating as an owner's representative: engaged and challenging but not driving the work Strong written and verbal communication, including design comments and technical write-ups Data center experience Hyperscale campus experience (any owner, developer, or A/E side) Industrial or operational facility experience Retrofit and existing-site experience Owner-side design review experience (not just A/E or GC-side) Experience running or contributing to test fit libraries Real estate or business case support experience Utility design and permitting familiarity Site development standards or guideline authorship PE license Master's degree Civil 3D, AutoCAD, GIS proficiency Experience presenting to executive audiences
