Job Title: Controls EngineerJob Description
A growing industrial automation company is seeking a Mid-Level Controls Engineer to design, program, commission, and support automated equipment. This individual will take ownership of the controls portion of assigned projects and support equipment through programming, testing, installation, startup, and customer support.
Responsibilities

Develop and modify PLC and HMI programs for industrial automation equipment.

Configure and integrate VFDs, servo systems, remote I/O, sensors, safety devices, and other control components.

Perform machine startup, I/O checkout, testing, and troubleshooting.

Review electrical drawings and assist with control system design.

Debug electrical, programming, mechanical, and communication issues.

Support Factory Acceptance Testing and Site Acceptance Testing.

Travel to customer facilities for installation, commissioning, and startup.

Provide remote and on-site technical support.

Maintain accurate programs, backups, and project documentation.

Communicate project status, risks, and technical concerns to internal teams and customers.
Essential Skills
-
Proficiency in Allen Bradley programming and modification.
-
Hands-on troubleshooting of both electrical components and PLCs.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
-
Experience with Keyence.
-
Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical.
Work Environment
The role requires 20-30% travel, with travel weeks usually lasting 1-3 weeks at a time. Work hours are 45-50 hours per week when local and 60+ hours when traveling.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Jenison, MI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $38.46 - $52.88/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
