Every patient care team depends on having the right supplies available when they need them. As a Procurement Specialist with Logan Health Materials Management, you’ll play an important role in making that happen.

This is not simply an order-entry position. You’ll use MMIS and inventory data to help determine appropriate stock levels, coordinate purchasing activities, work directly with vendors and internal departments, manage backorders and product substitutions, and identify opportunities to improve cost and supply chain efficiency. This role is a great fit for someone who enjoys problem-solving, working with data, managing multiple priorities, building relationships, and finding practical solutions when supply needs change.

What You’ll Do

Inventory Management & Optimization

• Coordinate with department leaders, clinical teams, Supply Chain partners, and other stakeholders to establish appropriate minimum and maximum inventory levels for stocked items.

• Use Materials Management Information System (MMIS) data and inventory trends to help maintain optimal on-hand quantities while minimizing excess inventory.

• Monitor short- and long-term purchasing and utilization trends to identify opportunities to improve supply chain efficiency.

• Support inventory counts and replenishment activities within assigned areas.

Purchasing & Procurement

• Create purchase orders and place orders with vendors according to established department procedures and purchasing protocols.

• Promote and utilize Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) contracts whenever available and appropriate.

• Obtain competitive quotes for goods and services when GPO contracts are not available.

• Review and research purchase requests to help ensure products are appropriate, cost-effective, and aligned with department needs.

• Partner with end users to facilitate product research and selection.

• Facilitate Item Request Template creation and management and coordinate Supply Chain purchasing requests for assigned departments.

• Track and report documented cost savings and cost avoidance in accordance with department procedures.

Vendor & Backorder Management

• Monitor vendor backorders and proactively communicate delays, availability concerns, and product substitutions to affected departments.

• Work with vendors and internal stakeholders to identify alternate products when necessary.

• Coordinate the return of damaged, incorrect, or unwanted products.

• Create appropriate return purchase orders within the MMIS and ensure return processes are completed accurately.

• Maintain productive relationships with vendors while supporting Logan Health's purchasing standards and organizational needs.

Financial & Purchasing Support

• Partner with Finance and other internal teams to investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies.

• Actively review and update the Accrual Aging Report for assigned areas.

• Research purchasing discrepancies and follow through on outstanding orders, invoices, credits, and related documentation.

• Maintain accurate purchasing and inventory information within applicable systems.

We’re looking for someone who can see both the details and the bigger picture. The right person will be comfortable balancing inventory availability, cost, vendor relationships, department needs, and changing priorities.

You may be a strong fit if you have:

• Experience in procurement, purchasing, supply chain, inventory management, materials management, or a related field

• Experience working with inventory, purchasing, or enterprise systems such as an MMIS or ERP system

• Strong analytical skills and the ability to use data to support inventory and purchasing decisions

• Experience creating or managing purchase orders, vendor orders, inventory levels, or purchasing documentation

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

• The ability to manage multiple priorities, follow through on outstanding issues, and meet deadlines

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• The ability to collaborate effectively with vendors, Finance, clinical departments, leadership, and other internal stakeholders

• Confidence researching products, comparing purchasing options, and identifying cost-effective solutions

• The ability to proactively communicate supply shortages, substitutions, backorders, and other issues that may affect department operations

• Proficiency with computers and business software used for purchasing, inventory management, reporting, and communication

• Healthcare supply chain, hospital materials management, OR supply, GPO purchasing, MMIS, or similar experience is especially valuable.

Schedule:

Logan Health operates 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Schedules are set to accommodate the requirements of the position and the needs of the organization and may be adjusted as needed.
