THE ROLE
This is a semi-skilled part-time position responsible for actively cleaning and sanitizing the Anchorage Convention Centers meeting rooms and public areas. Expected to be able to work without close supervision and to work irregular hours including day or night shifts, overtime, weekends, and holidays.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Conducts all cleaning duties including sweeping and vacuuming of carpets, sweeping, mopping and waxing of floors, trash pick-up and removal, cleaning of toilets and urinals, cleaning and shining mirrors, cleaning walls and trash cans, cleaning arena seats, dusting furniture, etc.

Control of housekeeping equipment including but not limited brooms, mops, buckets and wringer, toilet brushes, garbage bags, push brooms, cleaning cloths, gloves, mask and cleaning solutions, etc.

Refreshes meeting rooms during morning or afternoon breaks, removing trash or used water cups, straightening chairs.

Checks and refreshes restrooms at least every hour, sweeping, mopping, wiping counters and cleaning.

Cleans the back of house restrooms and spaces.

Empties trash receptacles, sweeps, and mops up spills on floors and carpets in public areas.

Vacuums and steam clean carpets and removes spots as spills occur or when needed.

Sweeps, cleans, and empties trash receptacles on all the exterior sidewalks daily around the building.

Responsible for overall cleanliness of the building

Maintains a neat and clean appearance and wear the proper uniform.

All other duties/responsibilities as assigned.

Education and/or Experience
- 1-2 year janitorial/custodial experience preferred

Location: On Site at the Anchorage Convention Centers
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule, which will include weekends and holidays. Work hours may range from very early morning to late at night. On rare occasions, must be able to work additional hours, weekends, overnight or extended stays, as business demands, with prior notice. Work is primarily indoors. Some outdoor work (such as snow removal and building maintenance) may be required. Environments may range from very warm to freezing. Work will be performed in many different areas of the Center and off-premises. Work will involve a considerable amount of walking, lifting, and other high-exertion activities. Potentially dangerous chemicals and equipment will be encountered daily during work. May require lifting materials weighing up to 50 lbs. Must be able to work in a crowded, high-activity, high-demand environment. Flexibility is required for the ability to meet all requests upon demand. Duties require the use of considerable initiative, creativity, judgment, problem-solving, and working under minimal direction. Requires attention to detail, logical reasoning, ability to formulate ideas and opinions, ability to handle multiple priorities, ability to anticipate needs of the company, ability to implement short- and long-term solutions to needs, ability to plan and implement projects, ability to resolve customer service issues. Requires working under deadlines or pressure, dealing with difficult people or situations involving complex issues, and establishing and maintaining cooperative and productive work relationships. Must have outgoing, positive attitude in dealing with clientele and employees.
