Salary: $‎80,000 - $83,000 per year

Does working with numbers and balancing accounts make you excited? Do you have more than 3 years of hospitality finance and 2 years of management experience in a large full service hotel? Have you been successful in and passionate about all areas of accounting and finance? If your answers are “Yes”, you may be a great fit for our finance team at the Hilton Waikiki Beach.

The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing financial transactions, maintaining accurate records, and providing insightful financial analysis to support decision-making. This role requires strong attention to detail, financial expertise, and the ability to work collaboratively with various hotel departments. Emphasis on Accounts Receivable and Income Audit functions as well as assisting the Assistant Director of Finance with coverage in various Accounting positions.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

  • Associate Degree or higher in finance, accounting, business or economics, preferred

  • Minimum three (3) years of previous accounting and finance experience in a full-service hotel finance environment required

  • 3+ years hospitality accounting experience at 1,000 plus room hotel, preferred

  • 2+ years Management experience at 1,000 plus room hotel, preferably in accounts receivable

  • Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, particularly Excel)

  • Hotel Computer Systems or Hotel Accounting experience such as OnQ and Birchstreet, preferred

  • Relevant military experience in a comparable capacity

Work Hours:

  • Scheduled days are generally Monday-Friday with an occasional weekend day and some holidays. Hours may change around monthly or annual closing and may require some extended hours.

Language Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.

  • Ability to read, comprehend and write simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.

  • Ability to communicate verbally (including heavy telephone contact) with Guests, Vendors, management and co-workers.

  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.

Essential Skills:

  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.

  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.

  • A strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Must be able to type 30 wpm and use 10 key by touch.

  • Ability to follow all appropriate policies and procedures while constantly striving to improve all standards of operation.

  • Ability to follow safety and security procedures and will not pose a direct threat to the health/safety of self or others.

  • Ability to manage time, be well organized, maintain concentration and think clearly.

  • Ability to communicate calmly with irate Guests’, co-workers or supervisors in sometimes tense situations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure operations are in compliance with all internal control procedures.

  • Supervise the Accounts Receivable Specialist and Income Auditor

  • Monitor and assists with billings for Airlines, Wholesalers, Functions and Groups

  • Post payments and credits to City Ledger Accounts

  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts and prepares adjusting journal entries

  • Conduct monthly Credit Meetings

  • Audit credit card charge back

  • Train to cover other positions in the Finance Office

  • Participate in month-end closing

  • Handle special projects as requested by Director of Finance and Assistant Director of Finance

  • Assist in any other duties as needed
