Construction Manager Data Center Construction & Connectivity

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager to oversee the construction, commissioning, and turnover of mission-critical data center projects across North America. This role will manage multiple projects simultaneously, including new buildouts, retrofits, and connectivity infrastructure deployments within a large-scale data center portfolio. Candidates should have strong experience delivering data center or critical infrastructure projects, managing contractors, and driving projects from planning through closeout.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead onsite construction activities from preconstruction through turnover.

  • Manage contractors, vendors, consultants, and cross-functional stakeholders.

  • Oversee new data hall buildouts, facility retrofits, and expansion projects.

  • Support project planning, scheduling, budgeting, forecasting, and change management.

  • Monitor project costs, schedules, risks, and overall performance to ensure successful delivery.

  • Coordinate commissioning activities, QA/QC efforts, and project closeout documentation.

  • Conduct site inspections, WIP reviews, and progress meetings.

  • Manage MOPs and construction activities within live data center environments.

  • Escalate critical project issues and develop mitigation plans.

  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with project safety requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.

  • 7-10+ years of experience in construction, project planning, operations, or related fields.

  • 7-10+ years of direct experience supporting data center, mission-critical, or critical infrastructure projects.

  • Experience managing multiple concurrent projects valued between $600K and $100M+.

  • Strong understanding of construction processes, contractor management, budgeting, scheduling, and project delivery.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with hyperscale, colocation, or mission-critical data center environments.

  • Experience managing fiber, connectivity, and network infrastructure projects.

  • Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and structured cabling systems.

  • Experience leading commissioning efforts for both retrofit and new construction projects.

  • Familiarity with CPM scheduling methodologies and Primavera P6.

  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

  • Excellent communication, leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.

Additional Details

  • 12-month contract with potential for a 12-month extension.

  • Ideal candidates will have a proven track record delivering complex data center projects while maintaining safety, schedule, budget, and quality goals.

This is a Contract position based out of DeKalb, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $80.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
