Student Success Project Manager

Wayne State University is searching for an experiencedStudent Success Project Managerat its Detroit campus location.

Essential functions (job duties):

Job Purpose

The Student Success Project Manager plans, manages, and tracks projects and initiatives across multiple student success units. This role designs and maintains transparency of strategic initiatives in alignment with the priorities of the university’s broader retention and completion goals. In addition, the Student Success Project Manager is responsible for partnering with leaders of past initiatives that have advanced student persistence at Wayne State University to publish project charters and formal reports for the student success project repository.

Using predictive analytics along with institutional dashboards and data assets, this position assesses the academic performance needs of students, with particular attention to historically underrepresented and niche populations.

This position reports to the Director, Student Success Operational Strategy.

Essential Functions

  • Develop reports for student success outcome measures, KPIs, and other metrics to ensure attainment of student success objectives.

  • Lead planning, logistics, and outcome analysis for multiple teams of the Student Success Collaborative.

  • Increase meaningful collaboration between the Office of Student Success Operational Strategy and campus partners to drive progress toward student retention and completion goals.

  • Effectively leverage student success systems and platforms to analyze, track, and report on student progress.

  • Manage workflow of ad hoc projects supporting multiple student success units.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education Bachelor's degree

Bachelor’s degree in Education, Instructional Design, Business or related field or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience required. Project management certification, preferred.

Experience Intermediate (3 to 4 years job-related experience)

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in higher education in relevant areas: student success, student affairs, data analytics, academic advising, or similar education and experience.

  • Experience with project management software (Asana), knowledge of business practices and operations.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Clear verbal and written abilities, with effective interpersonal and customer service skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a larger team.

  • Ability to compare, contrast and quality check work with a keen attention to detail. Strong analytical skills including critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Proficient with standard office tools (word processing, spreadsheets, presentation creation), research abilities to find relevant materials using online search tools, and database management systems.

  • Proficient in using technology to develop, implement, track, and analyze programs designed to maximize outreach efforts using student information systems. Demonstrated ability to aggregate and analyze data to evaluate outcomes towards set performance goals. Experience with database query and table design.
