In Orbit Aerospace is building the next generation of autonomous systems. Our work bridges the development of vehicles that operate in the air, space, and everywhere in between with edge-resident AI/ML for secure, reliable autonomy.
Robotics Engineer
In Orbit is looking for an engineer eager to join a fast-paced team developing cutting-edge autonomous vehicles. If your junk drawer looks like spare parts for your next invention, you should apply.
As a Robotics Engineer at In Orbit you will work across every aspect of the product including mechanical, electrical, and software. This position requires a big-picture mindset alongside an attention to detail and will consist of day-to-day tasks such as designing and building structures, mechanisms, electrical circuits, power systems, and developing code.
Responsibilities:
- Design, build, test, operate, and maintain components, assemblies, and fully built vehicles
- Work closely with other engineers to solve problems and integrate your respective builds
- Source off-the-shelf and custom designed components, interacting with suppliers and manufacturers
- Assist and lead vehicle flight tests and demonstrations, which may require travel
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree-level knowledge in engineering or physics
- 4+ years of experience working on electromechanical systems for full vehicles
- Experience with Design-For-Manufacturing principles
- Experience with CAD software for prototyping and production related components
- Hands-on experience developing electronics including sensors, PCBs, cables/harnesses, etc.
- Experience in a programming language such as C, C++, or Python
- Comfortable working with embedded microcontrollers and microprocessors
- Able to simultaneously manage multiple projects
- Able to independently identify and resolve complex problems
Preferred Experience and Skills:
- Experience working with soft goods (plastic films, fabrics, etc.)
- Experience working with AI tools with an understanding of their strengths and weaknesses
- Knowledge of unmanned aerial vehicle development including flight software, control methods, and communication systems
Additional Requirements:
- Willing to work extended hours as needed
- Able to stand for extended periods of time
ITAR Requirements: To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
