Job Description

The Global Advertising and Brand Management (GABM) team is responsible for creating marketplace demand and driving commerce for American Express products and services through differentiated and innovative branding, marketing and experiences. OnBrand is the colleague-led creative agency within GABM. The Senior Manager, Creative Strategy will report to the Director, Creative Strategy. In this role they will develop and implement strategies that inspire and inform communications across American Express brands and products. This role will partner closely with creative, marketing and cross-functional teams across the Enterprise, translating business and customer needs into clear, compelling strategic direction.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Lead strategic thinking across B2C and B2B initiatives including brand and product positionings, digital experiences and customer journeys, and integrated/360 campaigns, translating business and marketing challenges into clear, actionable strategies.

  • Develop campaign briefs, communications plans, customer journeys and activation frameworks that inspire creative and marketing teams, guiding development and execution.

  • Serve as a strategic thought leader and trusted partner to internal clients, building strong working relationships and bringing a clear point of view to shape business, marketing and creative decisions.

  • Partner closely with creative, marketing, product, digital, data, analytics and insights teams to bring strategies to life through relevant, differentiated ideas and experiences.

  • Synthesize research, data and insights into compelling strategic narratives and recommendations for senior stakeholders.

  • Operate with a high degree of ownership and independence, independently navigating complex strategic challenges, shaping the work and driving it forward.

Qualifications

  • 5–7+ years of relevant experience at a leading creative agency and/or in client-side creative or brand strategy roles.

  • Deep experience developing strategic positioning and frameworks, creative briefs and communications strategies across B2C and/or B2B businesses.

  • Demonstrated ability to translate brand and communications strategy across channels, customer journeys and business contexts, creating a clear strategic through-line across the end-to-end customer experience.

  • Experience shaping research approaches to uncover meaningful insights and synthesizing research, data and market intelligence into compelling strategic points of view and actionable recommendations.

  • A problem-solving mindset and confidence independently navigating complex and ambiguous business challenges, shaping a differentiated strategic point of view and influencing the direction of the work.

  • Expertise in B2B strategy and/or digital customer experience and journey strategy is a plus.

  • Exceptional collaboration and relationship-building skills, building trusted partnerships across disciplines and effectively influencing stakeholders at varying levels of seniority
