Description

The Pharmacist, Retail prepares and maintains all necessary records on prescriptions, patient charges and inventory. The role provides education and information to the patients, families, team members, and prescribers on drugs and pharmaceuticals. The Pharmacist, Retail under general direction of the Director, Pharmacy Services acts as the Pharmacist-in-charge, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations, oversee operations and provide functional supervision of professional, technician, and support staff for the pharmacy.

Responsibilities

  • Process and dispense medications to patients according to prescriptions issued by the medical and dental providers (prescribers).

  • Ensure safe and efficient delivery of medications to all patients, do not allow misbranded, deteriorated, adulterated, improperly stored or outdated drugs or any drugs marked ‘‘sample’’ or with any like designation or meaning to be dispensed or present in the active stock in the pharmacy.

  • Maintains accurate electronic health records of patients and completes documentation in timely manner.

Skills & Knowledge

Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, be customer service oriented, and have ability to interact with a diverse patient population in a professional manner. Must be detail-oriented, have ability to multi-task and work independently in making pharmacy and drug-related judgments, while still collaborating with team members. Must be organized and use analytical skills in problem solving and decision making. Basic to intermediate experience in computer applications, specifically electronic medical records system and MS Office a must. Spanish language fluency preferred.
