Full job description

Situation, a full-service agency building passionate communities for live experience-based clients like WICKED on Broadway and The Metropolitan Opera, seeks an Account Director to lead the day-to-day strategy, client relationship, and account operations for a Broadway/live entertainment client portfolio. This role will report to the VP, Accounts and own the media strategy and cross-team execution while managing two Account Executives. The selected candidate will demonstrate strategic client leadership, fluency in sales and business goals, deep knowledge of the Broadway/live entertainment landscape, and strong collaborative partnership skills.

What You’ll Do

The Account Director serves as the client's day-to-day strategic lead, translating their sales and business goals into media, creative, and partnership recommendations grounded in real knowledge of the Broadway/live entertainment market. This role owns the client relationship end-to-end — from budget management and pacing to coordinating with the client's external creative agency partner — while managing two Account Executives and partnering closely with the internal teams who lead day-to-day production execution.

Our office is located in midtown Manhattan and we are currently working in-office 4 days per week, and 1 day remote.

Sample Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Act as the client's primary strategic point of contact, identifying needs and proactively recommending solutions

  • Maintain a working understanding of the client's sales goals and priorities, translating them into marketing recommendations

  • Bring informed Broadway/live entertainment industry context — competitive shows, market trends, audience behavior — to client conversations

  • Serve as the primary liaison with the client's external creative agency partner, ensuring alignment and smooth handoffs

  • Build detailed budget breakdowns and deliver biweekly pacing reports, ensuring media invoices are paid before media runs

  • Direct media strategy in partnership with internal media resources, tying recommendations back to client sales goals

  • Manage and develop two Account Executives, including regular one-on-ones and growth planning

  • Provide quality oversight of production and project execution

Requirements

  • 5+ years of account management experience in advertising, marketing, or a related agency environment, including both digital and traditional media

  • Experience managing client relationships for entertainment or live experience-based brands (Broadway experience a plus)

  • Demonstrated ability to translate client business/sales goals into marketing strategy

  • Experience managing and developing direct reports

  • Strong budget management skills, including pacing reports and media billing processes

  • Experience coordinating with external partner agencies or vendors

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities autonomously in a fast-paced environment

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience

Benefits

We offer a competitive base salary and a range of benefits and perks:

  • Salary range: $110K - $130K per year, commensurate with experience

  • Health care plan (medical, dental, and vision)

  • Retirement plan with employer match

  • Life and disability insurance

  • Generous paid time off package that includes vacation, sick, “life happens” days, birthdays, summer Fridays and public holidays

  • Paid family leave

  • Cold brew coffee, snacks and fresh fruit

  • Wellness resources

  • Special access to New York City’s arts and entertainment scene

We have been honored for our commitment to our team with workplace awards from Crain’s, Best Companies Group, Cynopsis, Digiday, and Fortune.
