Northrop Grumman is seeking Interns, Technical Editor & Writer to join the Aeronautics Sector Intern Program . This position will be located in one of the following locations: Palmdale, CA / Redondo Beach, CA / El Segundo, CA / San Diego, CA

The qualified candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman’s Product Support organization.

As an intern, you’ll participate in a summer internship program to develop competencies in a variety of specializations that may include:

  • Write, rewrite, and edit technical documents (e.g., procedure manuals, user manuals, programming manuals, service manuals, operational specifications, and related publications) to clearly communicate technical information to diverse audiences.

  • Collaborate with engineers and product developers to gather and validate technical content through interviews and review of technical specifications, blueprints, engineering drawings, and trade publications.

  • Observe production methods and system performance to develop accurate, user-focused documentation.

  • Coordinate and oversee the development of illustrative materials, including drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts, to support and clarify written content.

  • Perform quality reviews of documentation to ensure accuracy, consistency, clarity, and adherence to established standards and formats.

Basic Qualifications:

A candidate, regardless of age and hiring source, must meet ALL of the below criteria. The candidate must:

  • Be enrolled full-time and pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited college/university AND graduating after August 2027.

  • Be majoring in English, Technical Writing, Communications, Linguistics, or related degree program.

  • Be available to work full-time (40 hours per week) for at least 10 weeks during summer 2027

  • Be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite) as well as Program Special access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.25 out of 4.0 or higher

  • Previous internship/co-op experience, leadership & teamwork capabilities, interpersonal communication skills, and activities (professional/community/extracurricular).

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Strong academic or project-based experience in writing and editing, with a solid command of grammar and style.

  • Interest in and foundational understanding of aviation and/or aerospace concepts and terminology (coursework or extracurricular experience preferred).

  • Ability to learn and apply interpretation of engineering data, such as drawings/blueprints, parts lists, notes lists, and technical specifications.

Intern Pay Range

  • Undergraduate degrees (Including graduating students planning on attending/enrolled in a full-time Master’s program): $19.25-$34.75

  • Master’s: $27.50-$43.25

Primary Level Salary Range: $1.00 - $1.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
