Duties

If selected for this position you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for providing technical legal support to one or more Assistant U.S. Attorneys in the United States Attorney's Office, Northern District of Oklahoma. Typical duties will include: Reviewing and analyzing incoming legal documents to determine what action and/or response is required; Examining, preparing, and processing a variety of technical legal documents, which are characteristically voluminous and complex in format; Monitoring the progress of pending cases to ensure that legal documents, correspondence, and other documents are prepared and submitted within established deadlines; Maintaining automated records for all appellate cases to include monitoring incoming ECF notifications and entering case information into docketing system; Performing legal research; Maintaining liaison with the courts, the Department of Justice, the Solicitor General, other government agencies, and the private sector concerning appellate matters and cases; Compiling, organizing, and indexing evidentiary exhibits for trial; Maintaining a case database to track cases and generate a variety of reports for the division; Maintaining a calendar of assigned active cases; Producing written documents and materials using a wide range of software applications. Qualifications

GS-8: To be eligible at the GS-8 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level. Specialized experience is defined as experience analyzing incoming legal material and determining the action required (e.g., assembly or preparation of motions, orders, pleadings, subpoenas, etc.); preparing and processing a full range of legal documents; conducting legal research; maintaining automated records; examining document facts and information against reference sources, identifying and resolving discrepancies; providing expert advice on legal support work; monitoring the progress of cases and initiates appropriate action to ensure established deadlines are met; and using automated software programs to produce a variety of written documents, legal forms, and correspondence. To be qualified, you must type at least 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. (A typing test may later be required.) Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies. If your agency has notified you in writing that you are a displaced employee eligible for ICTAP consideration, you may receive selection priority if: 1) this vacancy is within your ICTAP eligibility; 2) you apply under the instructions in the announcement; and 3) you are found well-qualified for this vacancy.
