Job Description
We are seeking an RMA Project Manager to join a precision manufacturing and engineering organization in Fairfield, OH. This onsite position is responsible for managing the full Return Material Authorization (RMA) process, from initial customer request through product evaluation, inspection, repair coordination, and final resolution.
Reporting to the Quality Manager, this individual will work closely with Engineering, Production, Purchasing, Logistics, suppliers, and customers to investigate product issues, coordinate corrective actions, support inspections, and ensure timely resolution of returned products.
This is an excellent opportunity for a quality, manufacturing, inspection, or technical project coordination professional who enjoys problem-solving, working cross-functionally, and serving as a key customer-facing resource.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage customer, supplier, and internal RMAs from initiation through evaluation, repair, disposition, return, and final closure
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customers and suppliers regarding return requests, documentation requirements, status updates, and resolutions
- Coordinate the receipt, identification, inspection, evaluation, testing, repair, and shipment of returned products
- Track multiple RMAs, action items, open issues, and project milestones to ensure timely completion
- Perform, support, and document visual, receiving, and dimensional inspections as required
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, certifications, purchase order requirements, and quality records to determine product compliance
- Document product condition, inspection findings, evaluation results, discrepancies, and traceability information
- Coordinate activities among Quality, Engineering, Production, Purchasing, Logistics, customers, suppliers, and service providers
- Support corrective action, supplier quality, root cause, warranty, and product failure investigations
- Coordinate supplier returns, repairs, replacement products, certifications, and supporting documentation
- Maintain accurate RMA and quality records within ERP systems, tracking logs, and documentation databases
- Identify and communicate quality concerns, project risks, delays, and unresolved issues to the appropriate stakeholders
- Analyze RMA and quality trends and support continuous improvement initiatives
Skills and Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in manufacturing, aerospace, industrial equipment, engineering, or a related technical environment
- Experience in a quality, inspection, manufacturing operations, or technical project coordination role
- Experience coordinating product returns, repairs, warranty claims, supplier returns, RMAs, quality investigations, or nonconforming material activities
- Experience performing, supporting, or documenting product inspections and evaluations
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work directly with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel
- Experience working within an ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 Quality Management System
- Experience with gas turbines, power generation equipment, rotating equipment, or similar industrial products
- Experience with ERP, MRP, or similar manufacturing systems
- Knowledge of corrective action processes, supplier quality, MRB activities, and root cause analysis
- Familiarity with Certificates of Conformance, material certifications, inspection reports, repair reports, and other quality documentation
- Experience using precision measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, or similar inspection equipment
