Job Title: Healthcare Construction SuperintendentJob Description

The Healthcare Construction Superintendent oversees all day-to-day activities on hospital renovation projects, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, and in accordance with contract documents and healthcare regulations. This role leads field operations, coordinates subcontractors and trades, manages project schedules and documentation, and serves as a key liaison between the field and project stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all daily jobsite activities for hospital renovation projects, including coordination of subcontractors, field labor, materials, equipment, deliveries, and overall site logistics.

  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, including milestones, manpower coordination, procurement plans, and critical path activities to keep the project on track.

  • Create, update, and communicate short-term look-ahead schedules to ensure field crews understand upcoming work and align with the overall project schedule.

  • Coordinate closely with Project Managers, subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, owners, architects, and engineers to resolve field issues promptly and maintain project momentum.

  • Conduct regular site inspections to monitor workmanship, quality control, safety compliance, project progress, and adherence to drawings, specifications, and contract documents.

  • Lead jobsite safety efforts by organizing safety meetings, identifying and mitigating hazards, preventing incidents, and enforcing company and OSHA safety requirements.

  • Maintain accurate and timely project documentation, including daily reports, manpower counts, delivery logs, inspection records, photos, field notes, and other required records.

  • Review drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, and change information to ensure all field teams are working from the most current and approved documents.

  • Manage punch lists, coordinate corrective work, and support project closeout to ensure final deliverables meet both company standards and client expectations.

  • Collaborate on monthly schedule updates and provide field input to scheduling teams to reflect actual progress and forecast upcoming work.

  • Ensure all work is performed with minimal disruption to hospital operations and in compliance with healthcare facility standards and regulatory requirements.

Essential Skills

  • Strong field leadership skills with the ability to direct subcontractors, coordinate multiple trades, and maintain accountability on the jobsite.

  • Excellent understanding of commercial construction methods and sequencing, particularly in healthcare and hospital renovation environments.

  • Thorough knowledge of drawings, specifications, project schedules, inspections, safety standards, and quality control practices.

  • Clear and confident communication skills, with the ability to document issues, lead meetings, and coordinate effectively with both office and field teams.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Procore, Bluebeam, and Planera for scheduling, documentation, and project coordination.

  • Ability to solve problems quickly, manage competing priorities, anticipate project needs, and keep work moving safely and efficiently.

  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, teamwork, professionalism, and customer satisfaction.

  • Experience working on healthcare or hospital construction projects, including AHCA experience or equivalent healthcare regulatory experience for candidates from out of state.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience as a Superintendent on commercial construction projects, ideally with a focus on healthcare facilities and hospital renovations.

  • Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with owners, architects, engineers, inspectors, and subcontractors.

  • Track record of successfully managing complex renovation work in occupied or sensitive environments.

  • Comfort with using construction technology platforms and digital tools to enhance communication and project tracking.

  • Ability to mentor and guide field teams to uphold high standards of safety and quality.

Work Environment

This role is based onsite at hospital renovation projects in the Lakeland/Polk County area. The superintendent works primarily in an active healthcare facility environment, coordinating construction activities around ongoing medical operations and patient care. The work involves frequent time in and around the jobsite, including clinical and support areas, with a focus on maintaining a clean, organized, and safe environment that complies with OSHA and healthcare regulatory standards such as AHCA. Standard construction attire and appropriate personal protective equipment are required. Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lakeland, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $120000.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
