Flooring Installation Technician (Entry Level)
Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated Flooring Installation Technician to join our team. In this entry-level role, you will assist with the installation and finishing of a variety of flooring products in residential and commercial settings. This position is ideal for someone with construction experience who enjoys hands-on work, takes pride in quality craftsmanship, and is eager to learn specialized flooring and tile installation techniques.
Key Responsibilities

Install flooring materials including ceramic and porcelain tile, luxury vinyl plank (LVP), vinyl, laminate, hardwood, carpet tile, and other specialty flooring products.

Measure, cut, and fit materials accurately to meet project specifications.

Prepare surfaces by removing existing flooring, leveling subfloors, and making necessary repairs.

Assist with custom tile projects, including backsplashes, shower surrounds, and decorative installations.

Read and interpret project layouts, drawings, and specifications.

Load, unload, transport, and organize materials, tools, and equipment.

Maintain a clean, safe, and organized job site.

Communicate professionally with customers, contractors, and team members.

Follow all company safety policies and job site requirements.

Work collaboratively with crews of 2-5 team members to complete projects on schedule.
Qualifications
-
Minimum of 6 months of construction experience.
-
Experience with flooring, carpet, or tile installation is preferred but not required.

Ability to accurately measure and cut materials.
-
Experience using basic hand tools and flooring installation tools.
-
Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
-
Ability to pass required bg, drug, and motor vehicle screenings.
-
Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.

Dependable, motivated, and willing to learn new skills.
Preferred Qualifications
-
Previous ceramic tile installation experience.
-
Previous carpet installation experience.
-
General construction experience.
-
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Willingness to grow into more advanced flooring and tile installation responsibilities.

Work Environment
Work is performed on active residential and commercial construction sites. Employees must wear appropriate PPE, including safety glasses, hard hats, high-visibility clothing, and steel or composite toe footwear. The role is physically active and involves lifting, kneeling, carrying materials, and working with installation tools and equipment. Basic hand tools are required, and team members will eventually be expected to supply their own tile cutter. Knee pads are provided by the company.

This is a Contract position based out of Cedar Rapids, IA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
