Full job description
The Opportunity:
Responsible for maintaining the accuracy of production, inventory, and costing information for active manufacturing jobs. The Materials Coordinator II monitors Work-in-Process (WIP) inventory, validates production and material usage data, supports inventory control activities, and ensures operational and financial accuracy. This role works closely with Production, Scheduling, Accounting, Purchasing, and Inventory Control teams to support efficient plant operations. Maintain housekeeping and 5S standards established by management. Follow all Smurfit WestRock Core Values and Behaviors. Additional duties may be assigned by the department manager.
How You Will Impact Smurfit WestRock:

Verify board, corrugated material, production schedules, and cost sheets for active manufacturing jobs.

Review and analyze WIP Impact Statements to identify discrepancies and implement corrective actions.

Track and manage Re-WIP, barcode inventory, and American Converting stock assigned to production jobs.

Coordinate allocation and scheduling of combo production runs to maximize material utilization and operational efficiency.

Run and review WIP reports to identify, investigate, and clear unused or unconsumed WIP inventory.

Facilitate bi-annual and annual WIP inventory counts and provide accurate inventory documentation for Accounting.

Serve as backup support for Daily Dashboard reporting and key operational performance metrics.

Maintain supply inventories and assist with purchasing materials required for plant operations.

Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and Operational Excellence Pillar Teams.

Collaborate with Production, Scheduling, Purchasing, Inventory Control, and Accounting teams to ensure accurate reporting and inventory management.

Support initiatives focused on inventory accuracy, cost control, process improvement, and operational efficiency.

Maintain compliance with all safety policies, SQF requirements, workplace procedures, and housekeeping standards.

Follow all PPE requirements, Safety Absolutes, S.T.E.P. procedures, and safety participation programs.
What You Need to Succeed:

High School Diploma or GED required.

Experience in manufacturing, production planning, inventory control, costing, or a related operational environment.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and business reporting systems.

Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

Strong understanding of inventory management principles and production scheduling processes.

Knowledge of cost analysis and data validation practices.

Ability to effectively utilize ERP systems and manufacturing reporting tools.
