Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Director, U.S. Equity Sales to join our Boston-based Institutional Equity Sales team. The successful candidate will develop and manage relationships with hedge funds, mutual funds, and other institutional investors, with a primary focus on U.S. equities.

This individual will deliver differentiated investment ideas, research, market intelligence, corporate access, and execution solutions while connecting clients with the firm’s broader global equities platform. The role requires strong institutional relationships, deep equity market knowledge, sound commercial judgment, and a demonstrated ability to generate revenue.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and expand relationships with hedge funds, mutual funds, and other institutional investors.

  • Generate revenue by distributing U.S. equity research, investment ideas, market intelligence, corporate access, and execution capabilities.

  • Deliver timely, relevant, and actionable content aligned with each client’s investment strategy and portfolio priorities.

  • Maintain a detailed understanding of client investment processes, sector interests, trading activity, commission allocation, and service requirements.

  • Partner with Research, Sales Trading, Electronic Trading, Derivatives, Prime Brokerage, Corporate Access, and Equity Capital Markets to deliver integrated client solutions.

  • Coordinate analyst marketing, management meetings, conferences, non-deal roadshows, and other corporate access opportunities.

  • Develop account plans, establish revenue objectives, grow wallet share, and identify new client opportunities.

  • Provide timely feedback on investor sentiment, positioning, market themes, and client activity to internal stakeholders.

  • Maintain accurate client activity and relationship information in the firm’s CRM systems.

  • Conduct all client interactions in accordance with applicable regulations, internal policies, and the firm’s standards of conduct.

Qualifications

  • Typically 7+ years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Relevant experience in institutional equity sales, research sales, sales trading, or a related capital markets role.

  • Established relationships with U.S.-based hedge funds and mutual funds.

  • Demonstrated ability to generate revenue and grow institutional client relationships.

  • Strong knowledge of U.S. equity markets, investment strategies, market structure, and institutional research and execution.

  • Ability to translate research and market developments into concise, actionable client discussions.

  • Strong understanding of commission allocation, broker voting, research valuation, and client profitability.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, organizational, and relationship-management skills.

  • Collaborative approach and ability to work effectively across products, sectors, and geographies.

  • Strong judgment, integrity, and commitment to regulatory and compliance standards.

  • Appropriate FINRA registrations required, or the ability to obtain them within the required timeframe.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Existing institutional relationships that complement the team’s current coverage.

  • Experience covering fundamental long/short hedge funds, multi-manager platforms, and traditional long-only asset managers.

  • Demonstrated success monetizing research, corporate access, execution, and broader equity platform capabilities.

  • Familiarity with electronic trading, prime brokerage, equity derivatives, and equity capital markets.

  • Experience working across U.S., Canadian, and international equity markets.

  • CFA designation or another relevant professional qualification is considered an asset.
