H1's inorganic growth strategy is maturing. We have already successfully acquired and integrated two acquisitions over the past three years. Now we are looking to continue that record of success on a larger scale and across a wider range of targets. This role will own the financial related activities of the Corp Dev function including financial strategy, target screening, valuation modeling, financial due diligence, synergies analysis, pro-forma financial modeling and integrations planning.

WHAT YOU'LL DO AT H1

You will work daily with senior leaders and business partners to quarterback key stages of the M&A Corp Dev process. This is a role for both an order taker and order maker. Reporting to the SVP Finance, you will build out the M&A playbook and execute critical phases.

You will:

  • Build and own first-draft financial models, including income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow models as well as standard valuation analyses, with scenario modeling to stress-test assumptions and surface key value drivers
  • Maintain and manage the M&A and partnership deal pipeline, keeping records current and flagging high-priority opportunities
  • Conduct initial screening of inbound and proactively sourced targets, assessing strategic fit, deal size, and financial profile against active investment theses
  • Manage workstreams end-to-end, coordinating cross-functional teams including Finance, Legal, HR, Tax, and Operations
  • Prepare screening memos summarizing key facts, strategic rationale, and recommended next steps for senior review
  • Build and maintain presentation materials for leadership and board-level deal reviews, investment committee meetings, and strategic planning discussions
  • Translate complex financial and strategic analysis into clean, executive-ready decks with clear recommendations
  • Conduct industry research and competitive landscape analysis to identify emerging opportunities across priority verticals
  • Maintain diligence trackers, manage the data room, and ensure workstream leads are hitting deadlines
  • Support post-close integration planning and assist with partnership and portfolio reviews, flagging performance trends for leadership attention

ABOUT YOU

You are curious and ambitious. You want to know how a business works and what makes them succeed or fail. You don’t know everything, but you use AI tools to learn and develop your knowledge structure. You can build 3-statement financial models that are complete and accurate but also simple and streamlined. You navigate easily between modeling mode, presentation giving and deliverable tracking.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Accounting or a related field
  • 2-5 years' experience in investment banking, management consulting, private equity, or corporate development
  • Strong financial modeling skills; you can build a model from scratch and defend every assumption
  • Exceptional attention to detail; you catch the error before it goes to Sr. Leadership
  • Proven ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously under tight deadlines
  • Intellectually curious; you're a fast and eager learner with the demonstrated ability of being a thought partner for strategic decisions
  • Clear, concise written and verbal communication skills
  • High proficiency in Excel and Power Point, CapIQ, and AI-based software and tools (Claude, ChatGPT, etc.)

COMPENSATION

This role pays $125,000 to $160,000 per year, based on experience, in addition to equity.
