Software Engineer (Edge, Observability, SRE)

Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a Full Stack Engineer specializing in Edge, Observability, and Site Reliability Engineering for a leading enterprise client. This engineer will help advance reliability, performance, caching, resiliency, and production readiness across large-scale distributed web platforms. The ideal candidate can use telemetry to identify meaningful engineering opportunities and turn those insights into practical improvements. This role will collaborate across product and platform teams to establish effective caching strategies, improve edge and application performance, strengthen SRE practices, and apply emerging AI-Ops capabilities safely and effectively. Candidates do not need to be Micro Frontend strategists, but they should understand the architecture, its performance implications, and how browser, edge, BFF, and service-layer decisions affect the overall user experience.

Pay rate range: 50-60/hour

Skills and Requirements

• Enterprise experience designing, supporting, or improving large-scale distributed web platforms
• Strong Site Reliability Engineering experience across observability, performance, caching, resiliency, and production readiness
• Hands-on experience with enterprise observability platforms and production telemetry
• Ability to analyze telemetry and performance reports, identify meaningful opportunities, and translate findings into prioritized engineering actions
• Experience with distributed tracing, Real User Monitoring, and OpenTelemetry or comparable observability standards
• Edge platform or CDN experience involving caching, routing, security, and performance optimization
• Strong understanding of caching strategy across the browser, CDN or edge, Backend-for-Frontend layer, and application services
• Understanding of secure cache-key design and the risks of caching authenticated or user-specific content
• Knowledge of SLOs, SLIs, error budgets, incident management, operational excellence, and resiliency engineering
• Cloud-native development and operations experience, preferably within AWS
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD pipelines, and automated operational controls
• Working understanding of Micro Frontends, Module Federation, Backend-for-Frontend patterns, and domain-oriented services
• Ability to evaluate front-end performance concerns such as JavaScript bundles, image and file sizes, asset loading, and cache duration
• Strong communication, ownership, accountability, collaboration, and technical leadership skills
• Dynatrace expertise
• Fastly CDN experience
• Deep AWS experience
• Hands-on Micro Frontend or Module Federation implementation experience
• Experience establishing enterprise caching standards
• Experience supporting AI-Ops initiatives
• Experience applying AI or agentic tools to SRE workflows
• Knowledge of safeguards for using AI in operational processes
• Experience influencing engineering teams to adopt SRE and observability standards
• Experience improving developer experience through observability-driven engineering
