Full job description
Responsible for leading all aspects of distribution center operations, including customer service, inventory management, financial performance, operational efficiency, safety, and team member development. Oversees daily warehouse and transportation activities to ensure accurate, timely, and cost-effective service to stores while maintaining compliance with O’Reilly policies and operational standards. Provides strategic leadership to drive productivity, continuous improvement, accountability, and a high-performance culture throughout the distribution center.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Oversee all aspects of distribution center operations, including transportation, shipping, receiving, inventory control, warehouse operations, customer service, physical assets, and inventory integrity.
- Lead daily operational performance to ensure on-time deliveries, shipment accuracy, efficient materials movement, and excellent service levels to stores and customers.
- Direct and manage all distribution center expenses, including labor, operating costs, and capital expenditures, while maintaining alignment with financial objectives and budget expectations.
- Partner with the Regional Director Distribution to develop annual business plans, operational strategies, labor plans, and capital budgets that support company goals.
- Collaborate closely with Human Resources to support recruiting, retention, engagement, corrective action processes, and overall team member relations initiatives when needed.
- Conduct team member evaluations, coaching discussions, development planning, and bench building to support succession planning initiatives.
- Promote and maintain a safe working environment by aggressively managing risk, loss prevention, workplace safety initiatives, and environmental standards.
- Analyze operational metrics, workflow performance, labor utilization, transportation activity, and inventory trends to identify opportunities for process optimization and operational efficiency improvements.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on workflow optimization, warehouse layout efficiency, logistics processes, scheduling effectiveness, and overall supply chain performance.
- Support additional operational initiatives, special projects, and other duties as assigned by the Regional DC Director or senior leadership in support of distribution center objectives.
SKILLS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE Required:
- Minimum of 6 years of distribution center, logistics, warehouse, or supply chain experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of leadership or management experience within a distribution environment.
- Strong understanding of safety practices, risk management, key performance indicators and regulatory compliance within a distribution environment.
- Ability to develop and manage operational budgets, labor expenses, and capital planning initiatives.
- Experience leading large teams across multiple operational functions and shifts.
Desired:
- Experience utilizing warehouse management systems (WMS), transportation management systems (TMS), or supply chain analytics tools.
- Knowledge of advanced logistics planning and inventory optimization.
