Full job description

This position is responsible for planning, organizing, and managing the daily activities and workload for the HIM department to meet the standards set by the hospital and regulatory agencies. In addition, this position handles the management of chart process/prepping, scanning/indexing, chart completion, release of information, filing birth certificates, ED charge entry, CDI operations, and staff of HIM Dept. This position is responsible for monitoring staff productivity, assuring timely follow-up with physicians, and communicating timely and effectively with ancillary areas and various departments.

Education/Degree(s): High School Diploma or GED required. Registered Health Record Administrator or Accredited Record Technician (RHIT or RHIA) required. Knowledge of all related HIM functions. Ability to work well with other hospital personnel and physicians. Knowledge of coding guidelines, federal regulations and billing process. Proactive in evaluating processes within the department and offering solutions to potential problems. Ability to train clerical and coding personnel in day to day functions of the department. Minimum of three years’ supervisory experience, or a combination of relevant education and/or job experience will be considered.
