14303BRJob Description:Are you a skilled technician with a 1B Boiler License looking to make a significant impact in a vital industry? We invite you to become an integral part of our U. S. Steel Minnesota Ore – Minntac team as a Utilities Operating Technician. This role is essential to our mine process operation, ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of our systems.

Responsibilities:

As a Utilities Operating Technician, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining a range of critical systems, including:

  • 7 HTHW Boilers

  • Compressed air system

  • Fire water pumps

  • Potable water treatment system

  • Wastewater treatment system

  • Numerous water distribution systems

  • You may be required to work at heights and/or in confined spaces, and you will be working in various areas of the plant location. Depending on the area, environmental conditions can be hot, cold, dirty, greasy, wet, and noisy.

Requirements:

  • Class 1B or higher Boilers License

  • Minimum of 1 year manufacturing and/or industrial experience (including relevant experience gained in military service) or equivalent education

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Willingness to work overtime as needed

  • Strict adherence to safety procedures and guidelines at all times

  • Punctuality, consistent attendance, and self-direction for the success of the operations

  • This is a safety sensitive position requiring drug and alcohol testing

  • Must Pass the Digital Assessment.

Preferred Experience:

We are looking for candidates with experience in:

  • Potable and Wastewater Treatment (State Certification Not Required)

  • Fork Truck and Telehandler Operation

  • Water Testing and Treatment

  • HTHW Boiler Experience

  • Preventive / Corrective Maintenance and Trouble Shooting Skills

  • Exceptional Safety Practices

  • Light Maintenance
