Full job description

Actors Fund Home , an assisted living, skilled nursing, accredited dementia care and sub-acute rehabilitation center located in Englewood, NJ, and a recipient of a CMS Five Star rating seeks a Food Service Worker to join our dietary department.

JOB DUTIES

  • Prepare desserts, juices, salads and other food items as directed.

  • Prepare trays according to planned menu; check special diet trays with diet orders before distribution.

  • Deliver meal trays to residents or serve meals in the resident dining rooms (depending on isolation status).

  • Place trays in food delivery cart.

  • Collect plates, clear tables and pick up trays after meal service is complete.

  • Cleans work area after each meal.

  • Prepare nourishment cart for nursing residents.

  • Restock pantry as needed.

  • Set up dining room for meals and special functions in accordance with facility standards.

  • Perform dish washing duties and cleaning duties if directed.

  • Practice appropriate safety measures to prevent infection, accident or injury.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate.

  • Prior experience in a long-term care or healthcare facility preferred, but not required.

  • Ability to push, pull, lift and/or carry up to 25lbs.

  • Ability to stand and walk most of the day and climb stairs.

  • Available to work weekends, holidays, and evenings as required.

  • Serve Safe certified a plus but not required.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in cooperation with other staff members.

  • Ability to withstand changes in temperature from going in and out of the refrigerator and freezers.

  • Must be able to handle food preparation equipment as well as abrasives and detergents used in sanitation duties.

  • Ability to read, write, understand English, and follow verbal and written instructions.

  • Be tactful and courteous with residents, relatives, guests and staff members.

  • High degree of personal cleanliness and hygiene.

  • Ability to pass the facility's physical examination upon employment and annually thereafter.

ABOUT THIS POSITION

This is a Full-Time (40 hours) hourly position, paying $18/HR based at The Actors Fund Home in Englewood, NJ. The successful candidate must be able to cover assigned shifts on a regular basis, including holidays, and should be available to cover vacations/call outs of other team members on occasion. This position is covered by the SEIU 1199 Collective Bargaining Agreement.
