Full job description

Job description ATMOS Space Cargo is seeking a Launch Procurement & Mission Logistics Specialist to take ownership of securing launch services and coordinating the end-to-end physical movement of ATMOS capsules, customer payloads, and recovered materials. This role covers the full mission lifecycle, from launch-provider selection through outbound transport, customs coordination, and the return of payloads to customers.

Key responsibilities

  • You will select and negotiate with launch-service providers, coordinating commercial and operational terms with technical, legal, and financial stakeholders.
  • You will monitor launch-slot availability, contractual milestones, and risks, and maintain relationships with providers and mission partners.
  • You will develop and execute mission logistics plans, coordinating transport, customs clearance, and specialist handling of capsules, payloads, and equipment.
  • You will coordinate on-site logistics during launch campaigns and manage post-flight recovery and return of materials to customers.
  • You will maintain mission schedules, budgets, and risk registers, and establish repeatable processes as ATMOS scales.

Profile required - 3+ years of experience in procurement, logistics, or supply chain roles within aerospace, spaceflight, defence, or another highly regulated technical environment.

  • Hands-on experience negotiating contracts with service providers (e.g., launch providers, freight forwarders, or specialized logistics vendors), including commercial and technical terms.
  • Practical experience managing international transportation of sensitive, high-value, or specialized cargo (e.g., export-controlled goods, hazardous materials, oversized equipment).
  • Working knowledge of export control and customs compliance (BAFA, EU dual-use regulation, AWG/AWV), and dangerous-goods handling regulations (e.g., IATA DGR, ADR).
  • Degree in supply chain management, logistics, international business, engineering, or a comparable field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Willingness to travel internationally on short notice and work flexibly around launch campaign schedules.
  • Professional fluency in English and German.

Company description ATMOS was founded as a European company built on the values of freedom, democracy, equality, the rule of law, and human rights. We are committed to protect these values by making our technology available to others who share the same values, strengthening infrastructure and innovation for prosperity on Earth. Our team is multinational and diverse, with offices in Lichtenau and Strasbourg. We work in a collegial, hands-on culture where people support each other, take ownership, and keep learning every day. Motivation for the mission comes first — building spacecraft is not a nine-to-five pursuit. We align the mission, the team, and the individual in mutual dependence. This principle shapes our work environment where exceptional people, as committed as they are competent, can grow and contribute to a mission that matters.
