Loader / Forklift Operator – Shipping Department (1st & 2nd Shift Available)

Job Description

This role supports the shipping department at a manufacturing facility in Markleville by safely loading trucks, operating sit-down forklifts, and preparing products for shipment. You will handle materials, use basic computer applications to support shipping documentation, and work in a warm production environment where reliability, safety, and attention to detail are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Load trucks by lifting up to 50 pounds repeatedly and arranging products safely and efficiently.

  • Operate sit-down forklifts to move, stage, and load materials in the shipping area and yard.

  • Handle materials throughout the facility, including loading and unloading shipments.

  • Use basic Microsoft Word and Excel to enter, review, and update shipping and receiving information.

  • Label products accurately for shipment to ensure proper identification and traceability.

  • Support shipping and receiving activities, including preparing outbound shipments and assisting with inbound deliveries.

  • Perform yard dog duties as needed to move trailers or coordinate truck movements within the yard, if required.

  • Follow established safety procedures while operating forklifts and handling materials.

  • Maintain a clean and organized work area in the shipping and loading zones.

  • Work overtime, including some Saturdays, as production and shipping demands require.

  • Adapt to and withstand hot work conditions in the manufacturing facility.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience operating sit-down forklifts in a warehouse, manufacturing, or shipping environment.

  • Material handling experience, including loading and unloading trucks and staging products for shipment.

  • Basic computer knowledge, including the ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel for simple data entry and documentation.

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.

  • Ability to work overtime and occasional Saturdays based on production needs.

  • Comfort working in hot conditions due to the nature of the manufacturing process.

  • Attention to detail when labeling products and preparing shipments.

  • Reliable work habits and the ability to follow safety and operational procedures.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in shipping and receiving operations.

  • Previous yard dog experience or familiarity with moving trailers within a yard environment.

  • Experience with stand-up forklift operation in addition to sit-down forklifts.

  • General computer literacy beyond Word and Excel is a plus.
