Job Description:
Job Summary**
Performs a variety of manual labor tasks related to the maintenance and upkeep of cemetery grounds, including grave digging, interment services, and general landscape maintenance.
Job Responsibilities**
- Excavates and backfills graves to specified depths and dimensions, utilizing hand tools and light equipment.
- Assists with the preparation and staging of gravesites for burial services.
- Operates and maintains groundskeeping equipment such as mowers, trimmers, and leaf blowers.
- Performs general landscaping duties including mowing, weeding, planting, and pruning.
- Cleans and maintains cemetery structures, facilities, and equipment.
- Assists with the placement and removal of headstones and markers.
- Ensures adherence to safety protocols and procedures during all tasks.
- Maintains a respectful and professional demeanor when interacting with bereaved families and visitors.
- May assist with snow removal and other seasonal tasks.
Job Qualifications**
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to perform strenuous physical labor for extended periods in various weather conditions.
- Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
- Basic knowledge of groundskeeping and equipment operation.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Must be able to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 75 lbs.).
- Experience in a cemetery or grounds maintenance setting preferred.
- Sensitivity and respect for the deceased and their families.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent; AND six months of general labor work experience. Subject to random urinalysis. Must have a valid driver's license.
