What you’ll do:

The Coordinator of Surgical Services Logistics & Sterile Processing provides operational leadership and oversight for critical support functions within Surgical Services, with a strong emphasis on sterile processing workflow, surgical equipment readiness, case support logistics, and regulatory compliance. This role ensures the safe, efficient, and effective management of sterile instrumentation, specialty equipment, anesthesia support services, and surgical support staff to maintain exceptional patient care and operating room performance.

Working collaboratively with Surgical Services leadership, physicians, nursing teams, and ancillary departments, the Coordinator oversees daily operations, staffing, resource allocation, quality initiatives, and process improvement efforts that support both scheduled and emergent surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities Sterile Processing

  • Provide oversight of sterile processing operations and Surgical Services Technician functions to ensure timely availability of sterile instruments, trays, and supplies.
  • Monitor workflows related to instrument decontamination, assembly, sterilization, storage, and distribution to support surgical case readiness.
  • Ensure compliance with AAMI, Joint Commission, infection prevention, and organizational standards related to sterile processing and equipment management.
  • Coordinate acquisition, maintenance, allocation, and replacement planning for specialty surgical equipment and instrumentation.
  • Collaborate with perioperative teams to anticipate equipment needs and ensure resources are available for scheduled and emergency procedures.
  • Monitor equipment utilization and develop strategies to maximize operational efficiency and reduce delays.

Operational Leadership

  • Oversee daily operations for Sterile Processing, Surgical Services Technicians, Anesthesia Technicians, and Service Associates.
  • Manage staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation to support surgical volume, patient safety, and operational efficiency.
  • Implement process improvements that enhance workflow, service excellence, and department performance.

Quality & Regulatory Compliance

  • Partner with Surgical Services leadership to achieve quality, safety, and operational goals.
  • Monitor performance metrics and drive continuous improvement in sterile processing, equipment readiness, and departmental operations.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and infection prevention standards.

Team Leadership & Staff Development

  • Lead, coach, and support Sterile Processing and Surgical Services support staff.
  • Assist with recruitment, onboarding, training, performance management, and staff engagement.
  • Foster a collaborative culture focused on accountability, teamwork, and professional growth.

Financial & Resource Management

  • Support budget planning, resource allocation, and cost-containment initiatives.
  • Assist with product evaluations, equipment utilization, and vendor partnerships to optimize operational effectiveness.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Serve as a liaison between Sterile Processing, Surgical Services, Nursing, Anesthesia, and Supply Chain teams.
  • Coordinate communication related to staffing, equipment availability, and operational priorities.

Professional Development

  • Maintain expertise in sterile processing standards, perioperative best practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and leadership training.

What you’ll need for this job:

Minimum Education: Required: High School Diploma plus training acquired through work experience or education Preferred: Bachelors Degree

Minimum Experience: Required: 1-2 years of previous job-related experience Preferred: 3-5 years of previous job-related experience Details: Operational knowledge of the perioperative department is preferred.

Compensation Pay Range: $20.02 - $31.03 per hour Actual compensation will fall within the range but may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, education, location, licensure, certification requirements, and comparisons to colleagues in similar roles.
