Full job description

Job Title: School Receptionist

Reports to: Executive Assistant to School Leadership

Compensation: Role-Based

Employment Classification: 10 Month, Staff/Non-Exempt

This position is a part-time role with responsibilities on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 1-6 pm during the school year between late August and June.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for greeting visitors, providing a great first impression, and making them feel welcome and comfortable.

  • Responsible for answering the telephone, routing calls, and delivering messages to employees and students throughout the school day.

  • Responsible for completing a background scan using the School’s visitor management software and issuing name tags for all visitors to the School.

  • Responsible for providing information about missing attendance data to the Division Heads on a daily basis.

  • Responsible for managing the flow of people in and out of the building. Attention to security management is important.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Awareness and appreciation of a culturally diverse community, including racial, ethnic, socioeconomic, linguistic, and gender identity diversity, is a key component of job expectations within our community.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.

  • Accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Strong technology skills, including the use of various web and database tools; familiarity with Google Workspace and Veracross preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for prolonged periods of time.

  • The ability to deploy situational awareness to preserve the safety of students and community members.

  • The ability to think independently and collaborate in a team environment.

  • The ability to lift and hold 15 lbs overhead.

  • The ability to occasionally transport (e.g., move or drag) 25 lbs.

  • The ability to consistently operate a computer. Proficient or the ability to learn Google tools and other applications as adopted by the school.

  • The ability to observe details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).

  • The ability to maintain focus in an energetic and, at times, loud environment.
