We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teachers to join a highly collaborative interdisciplinary team serving students with diverse learning, behavioral, and physical support needs. This is an opportunity to work in a unique educational setting focused on helping students develop functional independence, life skills, and successful transitions into adulthood.

These positions support the Bridges Program , a specialized program designed for students with moderate to severe disabilities and behavioral needs. Teachers will play a critical role in creating meaningful learning experiences while working alongside therapists, behavioral specialists, nurses, and paraprofessionals.

Position Overview

Under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator, the Special Education Teacher provides high-quality educational services to students requiring specialized instruction and support. The teacher collaborates with multidisciplinary team members, paraprofessionals, and general education staff to develop and implement individualized programs that promote academic, social, behavioral, and life-skill development.

Program Details

Bridges Program - Transition

• Caseload of approximately 7 students

• Cross-categorical classroom model

• Students with physical disabilities and moderate to severe behavioral needs

• High-acuity classroom environment

• Strong focus on:

• Functional independence

• Life skills training

• Community readiness

• Transition planning

• Students gain real-world experience through an on-site gift shop/store designed to prepare them for life after the educational system

Bridges Program - High School

• Caseload of approximately 6 students

• Intensive support setting focused on individualized instruction and skill development

Classroom Support

• Each classroom includes:

• 1 Special Education Teacher

• 1 Dedicated Teaching Assistant

• Bridges Program:

• Many students receive additional 1:1 paraprofessional support

• Small classroom sizes with significant staffing resources

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)

• Provide specialized academic and functional instruction

• Support students' behavioral, social, communication, and life-skill development

• Collaborate with families and multidisciplinary team members

• Utilize evidence-based instructional and behavioral strategies

• Monitor student progress and maintain required documentation

• Participate in team meetings and educational planning sessions

• Foster a safe, inclusive, and structured learning environment

• Prepare students for increased independence and community participation

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university (preferred)

• Valid state teaching certification as required by state and district regulations

• Minimum one year of teaching experience preferred

• Standard Elementary Teaching Certification preferred

• Standard Secondary Teaching Certification preferred

• Standard Special Education Teaching Certification preferred

• Learning Behavior Specialist I (LBS1) endorsement preferred

• Current CPR certification (if applicable)

• TB screening documentation (if applicable)

• Current health certificate as required

• Must meet all federal, state, and local employment requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age
