The Defense Business Development Manager is a highly motivated professional responsible for generating sales and achieving strategic business goals within the defense sector. This role involves direct interfacing with new and existing customers to define requirements and deliver optimal technical and commercial solutions. The ideal candidate will develop and lead the defense business strategy, ensuring alignment with global company objectives while supporting local and regional teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategy :

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive sales and engineering support strategy to achieve annual and long-term defense business growth targets.

  • Lead the preparation of the annual business plan, revenue forecasting, and business development strategy for the Defense Segment.

  • Establish and promote best practices in sales processes, contract management, and business execution to enable and support local organizational units. Business Development:

  • Develop strong, long-term relationships at all levels of client organizations, including senior operational and executive levels, to expand business opportunities.

  • Identify and propose potential business deals by contacting partners, discovering opportunities, and negotiating contracts to close new business.

  • Use an extensive network to grow contacts, educate the market, and engage with key stakeholders, including key account customers, consultants, and government engineering centers.

  • Manage and collaborate with a team of sales, application, and product engineers to meet and exceed sales targets. Operations & Compliance:

  • Work with the local Bosch Rexroth Defense Officer to ensure all contracting activities comply with applicable laws and regulations, including U.S. export control regulations (ITAR/EAR).

  • Collaborate with internal engineering, manufacturing, quality, and service departments to create innovative and customer-specific solutions.

  • Develop and recommend pricing strategies based on strategic and competitive analysis.

  • Attend conferences, trade shows, and exhibitions to represent the company and identify new opportunities.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field such as Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is preferred. Candidates with a non-technical degree are encouraged to apply if they can demonstrate significant technical competence acquired through relevant work experience.

  • 8+ years of experience in the military / defense industry, with background in sales, business development, engineering, or procurement of technical products or systems.

  • Experience working with U.S. government customers or contractors and familiarity with government contracting processes and requirements.

  • Proven ability to build and maintain customer relationships and identify new business opportunities in a defense or regulated environment.

  • Experience working cross-functionally with engineering, product, operations, and service teams to develop and deliver customer solutions.

  • Experience working in ITAR/EAR controlled environments in coordination with internal compliance and export control teams.

  • Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to engage both technical and commercial stakeholders.

  • Preferred: experience with hydraulic systems, electric drives, motion control, or related industrial technologies used in defense applications.

  • All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of U.S. regulations due to exposure to information subject to ITAR or EAR.

  • Ability to travel up to 40% annually.  Indefinite U.S. work authorized individuals only. Future sponsorship for work authorization unavailable.
