Job Title: Construction Superintendent

Job Description

The Construction Superintendent oversees day-to-day operations on commercial, clean room, pharmaceutical, healthcare, manufacturing, and semiconductor construction projects in Connecticut and nearby New York. This role manages projects from initial purchase order through final completion, ensuring work is delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The Superintendent leads field teams and subcontractors, coordinates closely with project management, and serves as a key on-site contact for clients and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and supervise all on-site construction activities, ensuring adherence to project plans, specifications, and quality criteria.

  • Provide operational management to the executive team and subcontractors, acting as project manager within a medium-sized team when required.

  • Lead and direct subcontractors, suppliers, and labor teams to ensure seamless collaboration, productivity, and efficient execution of work.

  • Plan and coordinate work for all assigned projects so that activities are carried out in accordance with quality, safety, and schedule requirements.

  • Oversee the entire implementation process from takeover of work preparation through delivery and closeout, ensuring project milestones are met.

  • Monitor and manage project schedules with a strong emphasis on detailed scheduling to keep projects on track and aligned with deadlines.

  • Track and control project budgets, including financial monitoring, settlement of projects, and alignment with financial goals.

  • Manage change orders, RFIs, submittals, and take-offs, ensuring accurate documentation and timely resolution of changes.

  • Conduct regular site inspections to enforce safety regulations and company policies, maintaining a hazard-free environment.

  • Organize and lead toolbox and safety meetings to ensure staff are qualified, informed, and prepared to perform their work safely.

  • Perform quality control checks and site inspections to verify that all work meets industry standards and client expectations.

  • Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for project managers, clients, and stakeholders, providing updates and addressing concerns promptly.

  • Maintain ongoing communication with clients during the construction process to manage expectations and ensure satisfaction.

  • Identify, analyze, and resolve issues or delays that arise during construction, implementing effective solutions to keep projects on schedule.

  • Maintain accurate records of site activities, progress reports, financial information, and compliance documentation.

  • Coordinate and support ground-up construction, office fit-outs, renovations, and clean room projects ranging from approximately $500,000 to $20 million, with a focus on $3–5 million projects.

  • Ensure that clean room and specialized environments are built to required standards for pharmaceutical, biopharma, healthcare, manufacturing, and semiconductor clients.

  • Collaborate with general contractor teams and internal project management to align field operations with project objectives and client requirements.

  • Utilize project management software and digital tools to support scheduling, reporting, documentation, and coordination.

  • Support training and development initiatives by mentoring field staff and contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.

Essential Skills

  • Proven track record as a Superintendent in the construction industry with strong project management experience.

  • 7–10+ years of experience managing high-end construction projects, particularly clean room, pharmaceutical, and semiconductor work.

  • Hands-on experience with commercial construction projects, including ground-up builds, office fit-outs, and renovations.

  • Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and safety protocols.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and construction documents.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to lead, motivate, and supervise executive staff and field teams.

  • Experience in project scheduling with a strong emphasis on creating and maintaining detailed schedules.

  • Proficiency in managing change orders, RFIs, submittals, and take-offs.

  • Experience with subcontract management and coordination of multiple trades on complex projects.

  • Solid background in construction project management for commercial, clean room, biopharma, healthcare, manufacturing, and semiconductor facilities.

  • Knowledge of financial monitoring and settlement of construction projects, including budget tracking and cost control.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to anticipate challenges and implement effective solutions.

  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with clients, project managers, subcontractors, and internal teams.

  • Familiarity with project management software and digital tools, including MS Project, Procore, and Sage.

  • Commitment to safety with knowledge of OSHA standards and protocols.

  • Ability to take a project from purchase order through completion, managing all phases of implementation.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working on healthcare projects and manufacturing facilities, including clean rooms and biopharma environments.

  • Exposure to semiconductor-related construction projects and specialized clean room requirements.

  • PMP certification or progress toward PMP is highly valued.

  • OSHA 30-hour certification preferred.

  • Experience using Bluebeam for document review, markups, and coordination.

  • background in estimation and cost analysis for construction projects.

  • Understanding of safety management practices and ability to lead toolbox meetings.

  • Carpentry knowledge or hands-on construction experience that supports effective field supervision.

  • Professional development mindset with an interest in ongoing training and skill enhancement.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple concurrent projects and stakeholders.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Wilton, CT.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $160000.00/hr.
