Position Overview
The Norwalk School District is seeking a dedicated and student-centered Occupational Therapist (OT) to support students in developing the skills necessary for academic success and daily functioning. This position will float between multiple school sites and manage a caseload of approximately 50 students . The OT will collaborate with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams to provide services aligned with individualized education programs (IEPs).
Key Responsibilities
-
Assess students’ fine motor, sensory processing, and functional skills to determine eligibility for occupational therapy services
-
Manage and support a caseload of approximately 50 students across multiple school sites
-
Travel between assigned campuses to provide services based on student needs and schedules
-
Develop and implement individualized therapy plans in accordance with IEP goals
-
Provide direct and consultative OT services in classroom and/or pull-out settings
-
Collaborate with teachers, staff, and parents to support student development and access to curriculum
-
Monitor student progress and maintain compliant documentation and reports
-
Participate in IEP meetings, student study teams, and multidisciplinary planning sessions
-
Recommend adaptive equipment and modifications to improve student independence
-
Ensure compliance with state, federal, and district regulations
Qualifications
-
Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program
-
Current California Occupational Therapist license
-
NBCOT certification preferred
-
Experience working in a school-based or pediatric setting preferred
-
Ability to effectively manage a multi-site schedule and caseload
-
Knowledge of special education laws, IEP processes, and IDEA requirements

Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills

Minimum Requirements:
-
Current licensure as an Occupational Therapist in the State of practice

One (1) year of prior professional Occupational Therapy experience preferred
-
Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice

Current CPR if applicable
-
TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
-
Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
-
Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
-
Must be at least 18 years of age
