Job Description Job Summary: The Merchandising Training Manager is responsible for shaping and executing the learning program and capability‑building approach that strengthens merchandising excellence across the enterprise. This role oversees the development, delivery, and ongoing improvement of training programs that enhance process adoption, system proficiency , and merchandising best practices. The position works closely with Merchandising, Supply Chain, Finance, and Technology teams to ensure team members have the skills, knowledge, and tools needed to achieve business goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Learning Program Leadership: Define annual training roadmaps, learning paths, and competency frameworks for merchants and support teams. Prioritize training initiatives based on business impact, performance gaps, and system/process changes.

  • Training Development & Content Creation: Participate in the design and development of training materials including playbooks, job aids, eLearning modules, videos, and instructor-lead content . Support translating complex merchandising processes and systems into clear, engaging, and practical learning content. Maintain training libraries and ensure all materials remain accurate , current, and aligned with process/SOP changes.

  • Training Delivery & Enablement: Facilitate training sessions (virtual and in person) for new hires, merchants, analysts, planners, and cross-functional partners. Oversee the delivery of training during system rollouts, process changes, or organizational transformations. Enable managers and SMEs to deliver training through train the trainer programs.

  • Change Management & Process Adoption: Partner with Process Owners and Program Managers to ensure training supports successful adoption of new processes and technologies. Communicate changes effectively and prepare user groups for transitions (e.g., new systems, updated workflows, SOP revisions).

  • Measurement, Reporting & Performance Insights: Establish KPIs for training effectiveness, such as adoption rates, assessment results, and proficiency metrics. Analyze training outcomes and performance gaps; provide recommendations to senior leadership. Use feedback, analytics, and operational results to continuously improve training programs.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Merchandising, Supply Chain, HR/L&D, Finance, and Technology teams to understand learning needs and develop targeted solutions. Serve as the primary liaison for merchandising learning initiatives, ensuring alignment with business strategies and ongoing initiatives.

Qualifications :

  • Strong instructional design, facilitation, and communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to translate operational processes into effective learning solutions.

  • Experience developing and measuring training programs at scale .

  • Ability to manage cross-functional projects and influence stakeholders at all levels.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and learning development tools (eLearning, video creation, LMS platforms).

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with experience using data to improve learning outcomes.

Certifications, Experience, and Education:

  • Certifications : None required ; certifications in instructional design, project management, or change management are beneficial.

  • Experience : Minimum of 7 years in training, instructional design, merchandising operations, or a related field . Proven experience leading training strategy , developing enterprise-wide learning programs, and supporting system/process rollouts.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in B usiness , Merchandising, Instructional Design, Education, or related field; OR equivalent experience. MBA or advanced degree is a plus.

Location & Work Availability:

This position is Hybrid ( 4 days in office, 1 day remote) , based at our corporate headquarters in Raleigh, North Carolina .
