Full job description

Education Recruitment Consultant / Account Manager — Manchester

Location: Manchester City Centre

Salary: £35,000–£45,000 base | OTE £68,000–£123,000

£35,000–£45,000 base. In Manchester. For a temp education desk recruiter.

Most operations in Manchester are paying between £28,000 and £40,000 for this profile. This role sits above that range. The reason the business can afford it is the model - and it's worth understanding the model before you apply, because the base is only part of the earning picture.

The role

Our client is a Manchester-based education recruitment business building their schools temp desk. They are looking for an Account Manager to own a portfolio of schools across the Manchester region, placing supply teachers, cover supervisors, and teaching assistants on a daily and short-term supply basis.

You will manage and grow school client relationships at headteacher and school business manager level, develop new school business across Manchester, and work closely with a candidate resourcing function to maintain strong talent pipelines for your schools.

Hours: 7am–5pm during term time, shorter hours during school holidays. Hybrid-working. Office-based in Central Manchester.

Why the salary and earnings are what they are

The business runs a platform-led model. Candidate availability collection, compliance workflows, and booking taking, filling & confirmations are substantially automated — the consultant's time goes on billing activity, not admin. Mid-level consultants fill 200+ days per week in bookings. Top consultants are at 400–500 days per week, compared to the 150–250 ceiling most traditional temp education desks reach.

The commission structure: £5k+ per half term at mid-level (200 days/week). £13k+ per half term at top level (400–500 days/week). Annual OTE at mid-level: approximately £68,000–£78,000. At top level: approximately £113,000–£123,000.

Requirements

What you need to bring

  • Proven experience on a temporary education recruitment desk placing supply teachers, TAs, or cover supervisors into schools
  • A track record of managing school client relationships at leadership level and developing new school business — not purely candidate resourcing
  • Genuine ATS/CRM fluency in your daily workflow
  • 7am desk discipline during term time
  • Mindset - education recruitment is not easy, but it can be better. If you take full ownership of your actions, can share your opinions constructively, and are open to learning daily, this could be a great place for you to continue your career. Not suitable for internal recruitment or HR backgrounds. School-facing temp desk experience is essential.

Benefits

The package

  • Base: £35,000–£45,000 depending on experience
  • Commission: £5,500/half term (mid-level) | £13,000/half term (top level)
  • OTE: ~£68,000–£78,000 (mid) | ~£113,000–£123,000 (top)
  • Location: Central Manchester — hybrid-based
  • Hours: 7am–5pm term time; shorter hours during school holidays If you're an experienced education recruitment consultant currently billing on a temp desk and your output isn't being reflected in your take-home, this conversation is worth having.
