The Senior Buyer TFT position exists to enforce and carry out all purchasing policies and procedures in a manner that reflects professionalism and stewardship. This position, under the direction of the Sr. Purchasing Manager, is responsible for supporting ministry departments in procurement needs.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Processes Purchase Requisitions and Capital Appropriation Requests (CARs) from various ministry departments for procurement of goods and services, resulting in a purchase order being placed with the vendor

  • Uses advanced knowledge of purchasing and contracting practices to include interpretation skills of legal contract terms and conditions, manages purchase orders from creation to closing, executes competitive bids, negotiates supplier agreements, prepares contract documentation and savings potential, identifies contract renewal needs, cost reduction and standardization opportunities

  • Documents mutually agreed upon purchase terms and conditions

  • Provides a high level of service by engaging with internal stakeholders and team members through collaboration, training, and providing guidance regarding advanced sourcing, supplier management, and risk mitigation practices

  • Closely monitors multiple, concurrent production schedules by serving as the key vendor liaison to departmental clients, interacting proactively to ensure timely delivery of goods and services at the highest quality in support of ministry objectives

  • Develops and implements improvements in contracting, sourcing and procurement policies, and legal practices to mitigate risk and resolve issues

  • Performs periodic market research/analysis to keep current on goods, services, and print capabilities that are being utilized by the ministry

  • Maintains documentation to support each purchase including evidence of quotes and why the vendor was (or was not) selected; Also maintains records to evaluate vendor performance

  • Coordinates the purchasing /contract effort with the FOF Legal Department

Other Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Knowledge/Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field or equivalent Purchasing experience

  • 5-7 years of experience in a buying position resulting in an increased level of responsibility and complexity

  • Knowledge of Focus on the Family’s mission, values, and objectives

  • Working knowledge of finance and accounting principles

  • Working knowledge of overseas purchasing and relationships is beneficial, but not a requirement for this position

  • Ability to do complex planning for multiple function departments

  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills

  • Competent in use of computer hardware

  • Competent in use of computer software, including Microsoft Office and other purchasing software

Salary Range: $29.00 to $34.74
