Full job description
The Katherine Thomas School, a Program of TLC-The Treatment and Learning Centers in Rockville, is recognized in the community as a leading, cutting-edge school that has been serving the community for over 25 years providing educational services to students with special needs. EOE The school seeks to hire a full-time Lower/Middle School Education Director to start with the 2026/2027 school year. This is a 12 month position. The Education Director is responsible for, in collaboration with the Lower/Middle School Director, the development, implementation, and supervision of the educational programs, including supervising instructional teams, overseeing implementation of IEPs, developing student schedules, supporting students, staff, and families, and ensuring compliance with MSDE requirements. Salary of $90,000 to $115,000, based on experience and education.
Required Experience for the Education Director: The ideal candidate for the Early Childhood Education Director should be an experienced educator who understands the needs of early childhood school students and is knowledgeable about curriculum for this grade level. Additionally, it is anticipated that he/she should have:

Excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills

Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism and collaboration with the school community

Demonstrate the ability to enhance teaching and learning through curriculum assessment and strategic planning for all learners

MUST hold a valid professional certificate/license as a special education supervisor or special education principal, or a valid professional teaching certificate or license in special education

A master's degree in special education

MSDE special educator licensure required

Experience working in a setting focused on language-based learning disabilities for students in grades preschool-grade 3
