Job Type: Part-time

No driving required. Previous professional transportation experience is not required.

  • $13.00 an hour

  • Part-time. Typically 25 to 30 hours per week, approximately 5 to 6 working hours per day

  • Split-shift schedule with a minimum of 2.5 paid hours per scheduled shift

  • Monday through Friday, no weekend work

  • Year-round operation

  • Supporting student transportation for Southeast Delco, Rose Tree and local after-school programs

What the job involves

As a Bus Aide, you will ride an assigned route with the driver and help provide students with a safe and supportive trip to and from school or after-school programs.

Your role allows the driver to remain focused on safely operating the vehicle while you assist students and help maintain a safe environment onboard.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Greeting students in a friendly and professional manner

  • Assisting students as needed while entering, riding in and exiting the vehicle

  • Helping the driver maintain a safe environment during the route

  • Monitoring students during transportation

  • Helping ensure students arrive safely at their destination

  • Performing required child checks at the conclusion of each route

  • Communicating appropriately with the driver, students and site staff

  • Performing other related duties as assigned

Some routes support after-school programs serving students with autism.

Your day

This is a part-time split-shift position. Typical route windows are approximately:

  • First route: 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 or 4:30 p.m.

  • Second route: approximately 5:00 or 6:00 p.m. through 8:00 or 8:30 p.m.

Actual start and end times may vary depending on the assigned route and program.

Employees receive a minimum of 2.5 paid hours for each scheduled shift. Most Bus Aides work approximately 25 to 30 hours per week.

Routes operate Monday through Friday. There is no regularly scheduled weekend work, and the operation continues throughout the year.

Looking for steady part-time weekday work. Comfortable working with children and students. Looking for afternoon and evening hours that can fit around daytime commitments. Or interested in student transportation but do not want a driving position.

What you need

  • To be 18 years of age or older

  • To be dependable and able to report on time for assigned routes

  • To be comfortable working directly with students

  • To be attentive to student safety throughout the route

  • To successfully complete required background checks and clearances

Previous professional transportation experience is not required.
