Founded in 1953 to meet the needs of children with cerebral palsy and their families, Pillar Care has steadily grown and now delivers life-affirming services to infants, children, adults and their families throughout northern New Jersey through 27 program locations. Pillar Care provides specialized programs to meet a wide range of educational, therapeutic, and social needs of people with various disabilities. The agency serves over 1,650 families each year and employs 700 full- and part-time employees.

Position Overview

Pillar High School is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist to p rovide evidence-based therapeutic interventions to improve speech, language, voice, fluency, and social communication skills while supporting students' participation in the educational environment. Maintains accurate documentation of services, tracks student progress, collaborates with educational staff and families, and supports educational activities in accordance with individualized treatment plans.

This is a temporary, leave coverage position from September 2026 through April 2027.

(We are seeking a qualified professional for a 6 -month contract position with the potential for full-time hire based on performance and school's needs.)

REPORTS TO: Principal

HOURS: Monday-Friday, 8:15am-3:15pm, part-time and full-time options available

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • · Develops, implements and monitors high-quality therapy programs for individual therapy sessions.

  • · Designs, fabricates, adjusts or makes minor repairs to therapeutic equipment for individual students; suggests and monitors provision of appropriate assistive technology.

  • · Develops educationally relevant IEP goals and objectives; completes daily notes

  • · Works collaboratively with professional staff using a team-based approach.

  • · Provides supervision, guidance, and assistance to classroom aides and one-to-one nurses.

  • · Collaborates closely with families to support the students.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • New Jersey Department of Education Certification as Speech/Language Specialist or eligible for emergency certification.

  • Master’s Degree in Speech Pathology from an accredited university and Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) issued by the American Speech and Hearing Association.

  • Clinical Fellows accepted.

COMPENSATION

Salary: $65,000.00 to $75,000.00 annually

Pillar Care takes into consideration a combination of candidate’s work

experience and qualification as well as the scope of the role,

complexity and external market and internal market value when

determining salary level.
