The Journeyman Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring the reliability, safety, and performance of complex building systems. This position requires a highly skilled and versatile professional with deep expertise in automated building controls and the ability to perform a broad range of technical, mechanical, and trade-related tasks. Ideal candidates thrive in a hands-on environment, enjoy problem‑solving, and can adapt to diverse maintenance and engineering challenges across a facility.

Key Responsibilities:

A Journeyman Engineer must possess a high degree of knowledge of automated building control systems and may also perform a wide variety of work requiring high skill levels and abilities, including but not limited to:

  • Electricity

  • Electronics

  • Sheet metal work

  • Welding

  • Mechanics

  • Machine shop work

  • Hydraulics

  • Plumbing

  • Painting

  • Ventilation work

  • Carpentry

  • Plastering

  • Concrete and masonry work

  • Ceiling installation

  • Floor installation

  • Motors

Required qualifications:

  • Coursework/Training: Must have successfully completed extensive specialized training courses --or--

  • Demonstrated ability and experience may be accepted in lieu of education

  • 4 years of building control systems inspection, testing, repair and maintenance in a hospital environment

Preferred qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree in Electronics, Mechanical Systems, Building Control Technology, HVAC, or similar field

Posted are the minimum and the maximum wage rates on the wage range for this position. The successful candidate's placement on the wage range for this position will be determined based upon relevant job experience and other applicable factors. These amounts are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
