Full job description

HFI is seeking a Service Parts Material Coordinator to support service parts operations at our Ohio facility. This role is responsible for coordinating customer material requirements, maintaining inventory accuracy, managing service parts and tooling, and supporting the timely movement of materials between HFI facilities, production, and customers.

The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in both an office and manufacturing environment. This position requires strong communication skills and the ability to coordinate effectively with internal teams, including Engineering, Quality, Production, Logistics, and Service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and maintain daily service parts requirements, inventory, and material status.

  • Verify inventory, tooling, and material availability to support customer requirements.

  • Physically inspect materials to confirm quantity, condition, identification, and usability.

  • Coordinate with Engineering and Quality when material condition or requirements need further evaluation.

  • Communicate material purchasing needs to the Service Order Supervisor.

  • Repack and relabel finished parts received from other HFI facilities as needed.

  • Coordinate the movement of materials and tooling to production to support service requirements.

  • Work with Engineering to support the production and packaging of service parts manufactured in Ohio.

  • Maintain accurate inventory records and communicate scrap or material discrepancies to the Service Order Supervisor.

  • Print and verify inventory and customer labels.

  • Complete required labeling documentation prior to customer shipment.

  • Coordinate the staging and shipment of materials to customers and other HFI facilities.

  • Reconcile remaining materials following production, including relabeling, counting, and documenting material loaded for return or transfer.

  • Maintain accurate records of service-area tooling, including location and status.

  • Support material and tooling disposition activities.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe service materials area.

  • Support physical inventory activities, including material counts and reconciliation.

  • Identify material quality or condition concerns and provide recommendations for resolution or improvement.

  • Communicate effectively with the Ohio facility, other HFI locations, and the Service Order Supervisor.

  • Follow all HFI safety policies and procedures, including proper use of required PPE.

  • Immediately report accidents, incidents, unsafe conditions, or other safety concerns.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.

  • Previous experience in material handling, inventory control, logistics, or manufacturing preferred.

  • Automotive manufacturing experience preferred.

  • Previous forklift experience preferred; ability to obtain and maintain an HFI forklift certification is required.

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Ability to accurately track inventory, labels, tooling, and material movement.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with multiple departments and locations.

  • Ability to work independently while also supporting a team environment.

  • Ability to identify discrepancies and recommend appropriate solutions.

  • Basic computer skills and ability to maintain accurate records.

Physical & Work Environment

  • Ability to lift and handle materials weighing up to 50 pounds.

  • Ability to regularly walk, stand, bend, reach, and perform material-handling activities.

  • Work is performed in both office and manufacturing environments.

  • The manufacturing environment may include exposure to noise, heat, cold, dust, fumes, moving equipment, and other typical manufacturing conditions.

  • This is a fast-paced, hands-on position requiring flexibility and attention to detail.
