Job Description

In support of the Army Research Laboratory DoW Supercomputing Resource Center (ARL-DSRC), BAE Systems provides program management and technical support necessary to advance services, capabilities, infrastructure, and technologies.

BAE Systems is seeking a SME Linux Administrator to lead a team of administrators with standard Linux system administration duties at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD.

The selected candidate will perform standard Linux System Administration duties as required to maintain smooth operation of multi-user computer systems consisting of Linux based application and license servers, virtual machines, and cluster based systems. Coordination with network administrators is required.

Additional duties:

  1. Setting up administrator and service accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing system wide software and allocate mass storage space.

  2. Developing and monitoring policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources.

  3. Participating in the installation, integration, acceptance testing, and on-going maintenance of our HPC systems and software environment.

  4. Assisting with forecast resource limitations and provide recommendations for increasing the efficiency of our resources through proper scheduling and load balancing techniques.

  5. Lead a team of five System Administrators of various skill-sets including prioritizing work loads, representing team during status calls, and promoting growth among your direct reports.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

Bachelor s degree and at least 7 - 10 years of experience (additional experience may be substituted for the degree)

DoD 8570 certification - Security and OS cert (Linux CE, RedHat, etc. - 90 day waiver may be provided to obtain the OS certification)

Willingness to occasionally work after hours and/or respond to emergency situations for problem resolution

General knowledge of Linux and general Unix operating systems concepts as well as systems administration experience

Ability to develop and maintain documentation on system administration procedures for routine and complex tasks

Ability to create and maintain Information Assurance (IA) compliance documentation of the Information System

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

Experience with Puppet or Ansible and designing play books from scratch.

Experience with automation / scripting.

In depth experience of VMWare, ESXi, and hypervisor technologies.

Experience with Storage Architectures: SAN, SAS, Fiber Channel, SATA

Familiar in multi-factor authentication platforms and solutions, and Identity Management such as OpenID, LDAP, and Kerberos.

Security implementations using multi-factor authentication, PKI, or Kerberos and Unix OS hardening to DoW STIG standards.

Experience programming or troubleshooting Python code

Experience with supporting Apache Web Server

Experience with Zabbix

Experience with Red Hat Satellite or Red Hat Identity Manager

Experience with BIND DNS

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $132962 - $226035

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
