A Day in the Life of a Civil Engineer (EIT) at Hanson

Here’s a snapshot of what you would do in this role:

  • Perform engineering design including analysis, calculations, layout, and drafting of details

  • Prepare and produce construction plans and modify specifications

  • Develop engineering estimates and quantities for construction

  • Coordinate and communicate field construction activities with clients, contractors, and project team members

  • Collaborate with design teams across local and national offices

  • Support civil sitework, roads, utilities, drainage, and infrastructure projects from concept through construction administration

  • Other duties as assigned

What We’re Looking For-

We feel the following qualifications would set you up for success in this role:

Skills

  • Experience with Autodesk Civil 3D, Excel, Word, and ArcGIS (preferred)

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts visually and in writing

  • Interest in diverse assignments and innovative design technologies

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively to solve problems and learn new skills

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering

  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification or successful completion of the FE Exam prior to hire

  • Minimum 1 year of professional experience in a civil engineering environment (preferred)

Additional Information

  • Willingness to travel and work overtime as needed

  • Valid driver’s license required

Salary Range: $74,000 – $82,000
